Daily Inspiration: Meet Kit Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kit Wilson.

Kit Wilson

Hi Kit, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Born in Dallas but a citizen of Los Angeles for over thirty years, I decided to move to Seattle and embrace the natural beauty and peace available in WA. An accomplished novelist for three years, Amazon Barnes & Noble Books provided an opportunity to shift my creative efforts to screenwriting.

I crafted nine feature scripts in a variety of genres: Drama, Horror/Thriller, True Story, Fantasy, Teen Market, and Science Fiction.

With an emphasis on strong female leads and plot twists that challenged their self-worth, my themes resonate with audiences of all ages.

In an effort to gain attention and possible traction within the film industry, I diverted my energies to craft short films in 2016.

Working with Seattle film talent, I wrote/produced/directed 12 short films that were soon awarded accolades and screened in over 167 international festivals – from Paris to Hollywood.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Writing fiction/non-fiction books was easy compared to writing screenplays. From books, online classes, reading countless screenplays, and having my beginning scripts read by pro readers – I eventually plugged into the groove and completed twelve feature screenplays and fifteen shorts. In an effort to get my writing noticed by LA studios/production companies, I wrote/produced/directed my first festival short film-winning awards and accolades from around the world. Eleven years later and twelve short films crafted by myself and awesome Seattle talent, our shorts have appeared in 167 international festivals to date.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a writer/producer/director of festival films – screened in 167 international festivals in eleven years. Working with tireless and passionate film professionals, we are proud to showcase stories that range from fantasy/horror/true story genres. Utilizing accurate vintage automobiles, costumes, music and locations to craft a period look to every story we produce, adding to the authenticity of the viewing experience.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Awesome “luck” in networking and acquiring solid film creatives in WA state who understand and apply their rare talents to my award-winning festival films. Also, must give a shout-out to innovative publications and media contacts who wrote and broadcast engaging articles about my work.
