Today we’d like to introduce you to LaJoy Grant
Hi LaJoy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a deep love for beauty and entrepreneurship, which has been the driving force behind my journey. From an early age, I found joy in creating and building, whether it was crafting something beautiful or bringing an idea to life. Over the years, I’ve explored a variety of entrepreneurial ventures. I started with cake design and event planning long before they became the popular industries they are today. Each experience taught me something new about creativity, customer service, and running a business.
I also ventured into network marketing with a health and wellness company, which not only introduced me to the importance of community and collaboration but also deepened my understanding of building relationships in business. These experiences helped shape my entrepreneurial mindset and prepared me for the path I’m on now.
Today, I’ve been able to channel my passion for beauty, education, and helping others into my business. Whether it’s offering permanent makeup services, teaching others to expand their skill sets, or mentoring new entrepreneurs, I’ve found a way to align everything I love into a career that fulfills me. It’s been a journey of trial, learning, and growth, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to where I am today has been anything but smooth, but every twist and turn has shaped me into the person and entrepreneur I am now. Like many others, I’ve faced personal struggles that tested my resilience and determination. There were times when I didn’t have the resources I needed to fully support my dreams. That lack of access made me question whether my vision was even possible, but my drive to succeed kept me moving forward.
Starting over and failing forward have been recurring themes in my journey. There were moments when things didn’t go as planned, but each setback was an opportunity to learn and grow. Those experiences taught me the value of persistence and creativity, especially when resources were limited. Instead of giving up, I chose to adapt, pivot, and keep pushing toward my goals.
Through it all, my determination has been my anchor. I’ve learned that failure isn’t the end—it’s a stepping stone. Each obstacle I’ve overcome has given me a deeper sense of gratitude for where I am today and the ability to inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter the challenges they face.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I wear many hats in my work, but at the heart of it all is my passion for helping others grow and thrive—whether in beauty, business, or personal development. I specialize in permanent makeup, including areola restoration, tiny tattoos, and cosmetic tattooing, and I also teach these skills to other beauty professionals who want to expand their offerings. My studio also provides additional services like teeth whitening and permanent jewelry, as well as classes to help others step into these industries. Beyond beauty, I mentor new and aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them build a solid foundation for their businesses and providing them with tools to succeed.
What I’m most proud of is the impact my work has on others. Seeing someone’s confidence soar after a beauty service or watching a student grow into a successful business owner is incredibly fulfilling. I’ve also been able to create a space where I can give back to my community and uplift others, particularly women and entrepreneurs who feel stuck or unsupported.
What sets me apart is my ability to combine education, artistry, and mentorship into one cohesive mission. I don’t just focus on providing services—I focus on creating transformation. Whether it’s restoring someone’s confidence through areola tattoos, helping a beauty professional diversify their skills, or guiding an entrepreneur through the early stages of building a business, I strive to leave a lasting, meaningful impact.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck—good or bad—but I do believe in preparation, hard work, and faith. In my experience, success comes when preparation meets opportunity. It’s not about waiting for the perfect moment or hoping for a lucky break; it’s about consistently putting in the work, honing your skills, and staying ready for when the right opportunities come your way.
Throughout my journey, I’ve faced challenges that others might call “bad luck,” but I see them as lessons that pushed me to grow and prepare for what’s next. On the other hand, the successes I’ve experienced weren’t due to chance—they came from years of dedication, persistence, and belief in myself and my vision.
Faith has also been a driving force in my life and business. Trusting that everything happens for a reason, and that preparation and hard work will eventually pay off, has kept me focused and motivated. When opportunities arise, I’m ready to take full advantage of them because I’ve already done the work. That combination of preparation, hard work, and faith is what allows me to continually reach new heights.
