Today we’d like to introduce you to Larrie Coleman.
Hi Larrie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into the notary business started with a desire to create something of my own—something that allowed me to serve my community while building a career I could take pride in. I began researching the notary industry and quickly realized how much opportunity there was, especially in helping people during important moments in their lives—whether it’s buying a home, finalizing legal documents, or simply needing a trusted professional to ensure things are done right.
I got certified, invested in training, and built my business from the ground up—often learning as I went. What started as a side hustle quickly grew into a full-time business through word-of-mouth, excellent customer service, and a commitment to professionalism. Today, I serve clients across Dallas & Garland area, offering mobile notary services and specializing in General Notary Work, Estate Planning, Apostille Services.
What drew me in was the opportunity to help people through important, and sometimes stressful, life events. Being able to bring professionalism and calm into those situations has been incredibly rewarding.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Starting out, one of my biggest challenges was building credibility as a new business owner. In the notary field, trust is everything, and it takes time to establish a reputation. I had to put in extra effort to market myself, learn how to reach clients, and manage all the moving parts of running a business—from scheduling to recordkeeping. Another struggle has been balancing the patience it takes to grow with the persistence to keep showing up every day. Each challenge has taught me something valuable, and I truly believe those obstacles have made me stronger and more determined to succeed.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Alongside my career in the medical field as a claims administrator for a well-known insurance company, I operate my own mobile notary business. I specialize in providing reliable, professional, and convenient notary services—whether that’s loan signings, legal documents, or general notarial work. What I’m most proud of is the level of trust my clients place in me. Coming from the medical and insurance industry, I’ve developed a strong eye for detail, confidentiality, and accuracy, which naturally carries over into my notary work.
What sets me apart is my commitment to creating a smooth and stress-free experience. I understand that many notary needs can feel overwhelming or time-sensitive, so I focus on being both approachable and efficient. My clients know they can depend on me not just for a signature, but for professionalism, integrity, and peace of mind
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for finding a mentor or networking is to start with genuine relationships. Don’t just look for someone with a big title—look for people who share your values and are willing to guide you. For me, networking has worked best when I’ve been intentional about showing up, whether that’s attending local business events, connecting with other notaries online, or even engaging in community groups.
What has helped me most is being willing to ask questions and listen. People are usually more open to mentoring than we think, but you have to be willing to learn and apply the guidance. I also believe in giving back—networking isn’t just about what you can gain, it’s about how you can support and add value to others too. That’s how lasting connections are built.
