Daily Inspiration: Meet Leslie Washburn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Washburn

Hi Leslie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been a registered nurse for 25 years. Nursing is my passion and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I started my career as a critical care nurse in the Emergency Department/ICU. I have also worked in the Pre-op, OR, and recovery room. Seven years ago I decided to become a certified aesthetic nurse injector. I fell in love with enhancing a person’s natural beauty. I currently work full-time as a triage and care navigation nurse for an insurance company while continuing to practice aesthetic nursing part-time. This last September I decided to take a leap and create my own nurse injection business. I never dreamed of working for myself but I am loving the challenge. My business name is Texas Toxer. I offer concierge services including dermal filler, neurotoxin, dermaplaning, microneedling, fat dissolve, and weight loss. My clients have their treatments in the comfort of their home or office. I am overwhelmed by the client response and grateful for all my success thus far. I cannot wait to see how incredible 2025 will be!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With nursing being my only career, since age 21, starting a business from scratch seemed daunting. I did my research though, watched a ton of YouTube videos of new business owners, and reached out to several friends and colleagues who had experience with starting a small business. Everyone I have reached out to has provided valuable gems of knowledge adding to my success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My clients receive individualized treatment plans. No two faces are the same, so no two clients will experience the same outcome. The way we see ourselves in the mirror is what counts the most, that is why I pride myself on sitting down with each client to try and see them through their eyes and understand their desired look. I take the time to explain the anatomy and how each product/service works in a particular area of the face or body. I prefer a more natural look and always remind each client that “less is more” is my motto as an aesthetic nurse.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by client referrals. The greatest compliment is a client feeling comfortable telling their closest friends and family that I am the best in the business.
