Daily Inspiration: Meet Linh Dong

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linh Dong.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started right out of high school and straight into cosmetology school. I went to school at night and during the day I’d worked at a salon as a receptionist in Park Cities. After I got my license, I apprenticed in the same area for a couple of years till I ventured off to North Dallas and I’ve been there ever since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Haha, I wish! This industry is not for the birds! I had to build my clientele from the ground up. It’s not like today where you can build a brand on social media. Not being busy was hard for me. It was a lot of sitting and waiting. This was a time before Groupon was well known and I was reached out by living social deals. It was hard. Some people were not very nice and some I have had as clients till this day. A lot of learning to stick up for myself at that time.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist/colorist. I specialize in color, mostly. I am known for my colors but chemical treatments in general. Like, Brazilian keratins. I come from a world of blowouts. We are in Dallas. 🙂 I am proud of myself for never giving up and constantly being hungry. I strive to perfect my craft and make my clients happy. I’ve been doing this a long time and I want to have a good time doing it. What sets me apart from others is I will always be realistic, not just honest but also here to make these hair goals happen! When you look good! You feel good!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Lots of things make me happy! Triple F’s! Food, family, and friends! Life is short. We should spend time eating good food with the people we care about the most and who care about us just as much!
