Daily Inspiration: Meet Malia Marino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Malia Marino

Hi Malia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Originally from Mississippi, I moved to Dallas, TX, when my fiancé got a job opportunity here. Shortly after relocating, I graduated with a degree in Psychology. Dance has been a lifelong passion, and I was thrilled to discover that Dallas is a hub for dancers. Within four months of moving, I landed an amazing job as a dance teacher.

Tragically, I received a call one night informing me that my brother had passed away. Being away during such a difficult time was incredibly hard, but I knew I needed to keep going. A few days after his passing, I auditioned for The Texas Legends and, through perseverance, found a supportive community. Some of my teammates are now going to be my bridesmaids!

Encouraged by a friend, I decided to take my dance career further by auditioning for the Dallas Wings Flight Crew, WNBA. Making the team was a pivotal moment, pushing me to elevate my dance skills. Following this achievement, my fiancé and I moved to Fort Worth, where I dedicated myself to dancing and pursuing social media full-time. Additionally, I have been in the works of a spray tan business and receiving my teacher certification!

I am finally figuring out who I am and who I want to be. With a huge chapter ahead—marriage—I can’t wait to share our wonderful story. Stay tuned!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As mentioned before, after moving to Texas, I received tragic news. It felt wrong to be away from family, and I even considered going back because you never know how much time you have with loved ones. The move itself was also a challenge. I had to choose between postponing my graduation or staying behind without my fiancé. We had been living together for a year, and the thought of doing long-distance for six months did not sit right with us. Ultimately, I decided to postpone my graduation, which allowed me to complete my degree just four months later than planned. In the end, everything worked out, and I truly believe it was all part of God’s plan.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a dancer, content creator and soon-to-be wife. I believe I stand out because I was raised in a small town within a bilingual family. With my mother from Mississippi and my father from Cuba, I feel deeply cultured and able to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe that my kindness and the principle of treating others how you want to be treated have taken me a long way.
