Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcine M. Moore
Marcine M., we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In junior high school, I kick-started my writing journey by crafting cliffhangers for friends. After high school, I put writing aside as life took over—I got married, went to college, and had children. Then in 2010, my life took a dramatic turn when I went through a divorce. The emotional turmoil led me back to writing, and I began expressing my feelings through poetry. “Beauty,” my first poem, has since become my signature piece.
Fast forward to 2023: I published a collection of poetry written over thirteen years called “The Phoenix Heart.” That book didn’t just make waves; it soared. It turned out to be an award-winning, best-selling collection, which paved the path I walk today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey started off rocky, but it’s been remarkably seamless for me so far. I truly believe that my steps were divinely ordered, and this is the time that was meant for me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the moment, I’m best known as the two-time award-winning author of “Phoenix Heart” and “Reflections Rising.” My specialty lies in love and relationship poetry. I’ve been told my work is very raw and relatable, which is what it’s best known for. I’m most proud of my first book, “Phoenix Heart,” and the fact that so many women and men find resonance in my poetry.
What sets me apart is my age and the perspective it gives me. With a wealth of experience, I craft relatable poetry that resonates with many. Often, readers tell me they’ve never thought of a situation the way I have or could never have expressed it in words the way I did.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For those starting out, my advice is to always stay true to yourself, no matter what that entails. Don’t let anyone sway your beliefs or what you want to create—after all, it’s your creative license. When things get tough, don’t give up. The breakthrough is coming.
One thing I wish I had known earlier is not to rely too heavily on people you know for constant support. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll have your tribe behind you. However, to grow your craft and expand your reach/network, it’s often strangers who will pick up your books, products, or whatever it is you’re creating and help you keep growing. You have to move from the fishing pond to the ocean. 🙂
