Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
MarQuita Erwin, known professionally as KitaTheHairMD, is the Founder and CEO of HG Studio, a luxury hair wellness brand established on November 19, 2016. The vision for HG Studio was divinely inspired by 1 Corinthians 11:15 “A woman’s hair is her glory,” which led to the original name Hair Glory Studio and the foundation of a purpose-driven brand rooted in faith, excellence, and service.
Kita has been a licensed cosmetologist since January 2009. Her entrepreneurial journey was temporarily placed on hold for two years following the premature birth of her son at just three and a half months. During that season, she remained obedient to God’s timing, starting from the bottom, learning, growing, and refusing to move until she was called to do so.
On November 19, 2016, by faith, Kita took a leap and opened her first 550-square-foot private hair studio. In May 2018, she was again led to obedience, closing that location and expanding into a 3,400-square-foot luxury salon with 14 private suites, achieved through two major expansions. In July 2021, God blessed her to open an additional 1,789-square-foot hair studio, further solidifying her impact in the beauty industry.
Today, Kita is the successful owner of a flagship salon in (Midtown) Tyler, Texas, and a salon suite in Carrollton, Texas, while traveling to the DFW area every other weekend to service clients. She is a Board-Certified Licensed Cosmetologist, Hair Wellness Educator, and Traveling Master Stylist, committed to elevating the standard of professional hair care through education, integrity, and results.
Kita is passionate about empowering women of all cultures through hair care and confidence. She intentionally pours into her clients, helping them rediscover the beauty of their God-given tresses. Her dedication to hair wellness and client experience is unmatched.
She journeys around the world to teach, inspire, and elevate others through healthy hair practices.
Kita has her own product line and is Kerafena Certified, Brazilian Blowout Certified, and contracted with Nu Standard HydraSilk. Her specialties include silk presses, natural hair care, scalp conditions, alopecia and hair loss, keratin treatments, hair color, growth retention, healthy hair and scalp restoration, and precision cutting. Her work is deeply rooted in hair health, not trends.
Beyond the chair, Kita is dedicated to giving back to the community and is diligently working, through obedience and vision toward building a successful salon franchise. As an entrepreneur, educator, and leader, she remains committed to fulfilling what God has spoken over her life and brand.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned on my journey is. Take it day by day. Don’t rush the process and trust God the entire way.
