Daily Inspiration: Meet Marylin Nava

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marylin Nava. 

Hi Marylin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Marylin Nava and I am the founder of Mirakle Balloons. We have been in business since the beginning of 2020 and I am so thrilled to have made it this far in this crazy journey. I am not going to sit here and tell you this idea began since I was a little girl or that I have always dreamt of owning a business because the honest truth is, it’s not. 

In college I joined an organization which taught me time management and kept me busy, I was on the go 24/7, and I loved the rush of doing something all the time. One thing about me is that I have always loved planning. Whether it was as simple as planning my schedule for the week, small trips and vacations, or planning a family holiday party. 

I never thought about how my planning and decorating skills would unfold in the future because I had earned my BA in Public Administration/Political Sciences back in 2017. After graduating and landing a full-time position in accounting, my fear of not being busy really came true. Things slowed down way more than I imagined. 

This was until it was time to plan and organize one of the biggest and most memorable moments in my life, which was my wedding back in 2019. I felt the rush of being busy once again and after my wedding plans were over was when I made the decision that I wanted to pursue event/decorating on the side. 

Something that was supposed to be a small hobby or gig on the side to occupy my time with grew to be a functioning small business. We have been blessed with so support from family, friends, and all of our new and returning customers. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of my struggles has to be leaving my brand for about 8 months to become a first-time mom. I knew I had to make a tough decision to leave for a good while to give my full attention to my newborn baby girl. I didn’t know how I was going to manage being a full-time mommy, full-time wife, with a full-time job and a small business on the side. I’m sure all business owners know that building a small business means working 24/7. 

To me, all that seemed like a lot to carry on and I didn’t want to stress myself out juggling all those roles. So of course, I had to stop taking orders from new and returning clients. I knew that it was going to be tough regaining our clientele when I finally decided to come back but I had to take the chance and I am so glad that everything happened the way it did because it has made me realize that God has the perfect plan for each and every one of us. 

As a planner, I couldn’t plan any of what was happening in my life I just had to leave it up to God to help me sort things out. With the help of God and of course my husband I was able to push myself and work 10 times harder to be able to get back to work. 

As a Latina, I know that I have to work a lot harder for my work to get noticed, that is why I push myself more to be able to teach my daughter that even when you seem like a lot is happening in your life trusting God’s timing and believing in yourself can go a long way. 

I also want to give credit to my husband because without my him being so encouraging and helpful through all of it, becoming parents and bringing this vision to life has made this journey so much more smooth and worth it. He is my biggest supporter and always pushes me to be the best version of myself. Thank you for everything you do Andrus Nava. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Our brand specializes in balloon installations and party rentals. Our company has been serving the DFW and surrounding areas since 2020. We provide the popular balloon garland services as well as rental backdrops, props, marquee numbers, and bounce houses for any occasion. We visualize with our client’s theme and colors to make their setup come to life. 

We are known for our personable customer service and the ability to work 1 on 1 with all of our clients. Most of our customers are returning clients or referrals from a previous customer. We try our best to always go above and beyond for our clients because we understand how difficult it is to plan an event and we want our clients to trust that everything will go as planned, and the décor is something less they have to worry about. 

One thing that our company is most proud of is that we build all of our wood props in-house. My lovely husband Andrus adopted woodwork as a hobby after we kept renting from outside vendors quite often. Instead, Andrus took the initiative to learn the skill so we could have one less thing to worry about. 

What do you think about luck?
Honestly, I don’t believe that luck exists. I believe that everything that happens in our lives has a motive. I believe in a higher power which is God and I truly think that he manages what happens within our lives. If you push yourself to be great, with him being in the center of your motive he will help you accomplish anything you set your mind to, Of course, you will have your ups and downs because it’s not meant to be easy, you still have to give your 99% so that he can help you get to 100%. Just like the phrase in Spanish, “Ayudate que yo te ayudare,” it basically translates to “help yourself, so that I can help you.” It is safe to say that I believe in faith not luck. 

Everything that has happened with our business up to now, has been because of our faith believing that we will accomplish the things we set our minds to. We have been blessed with more than what I could ask for, we are so humbled by this experience that we get to share our journey with you all. I know that God has big plans for our future, with the help of him we will get to our next goal in no time.
