With a passion for people and a heart to serve… meet your Ms. Curve Texas, Maxcie Taylor.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been smooth as expected, it’s life, I guess.

For example, this is not my first pageant, but it was actually my third.

My first pageant I wasn’t too upset about losing because it was my first one. That second one, however, was definitely ego-crushing because 1. I was competing to be Ms. Omega at my HBCU and I REALLY wanted to win (I love the Bruhz) and 2. I let my negative thoughts punk me and I ended up getting stage fright! It was so embarrassing for me- someone who is so bubbly and confident to give up and walk off stage.

I would’ve given it my all had I known it would be my last pageant in years.

When I decided to do the Regency International Pageant, I was pregnant with my third child, but I had grown so much over the past years that I felt ready to try again. I had been married, gained valuable experience as a business owner, relocated back to Texas, and most importantly established a better mindset.

As it got closer to the pageant negative thoughts would try to creep up but I would immediately start affirming and reminding myself of all the hard work I had put in.

I came to the pageant ready to win and well…third times a charm!

I would encourage anyone with a dream to have to focus on your mindset and the goals you want to achieve. Life is truly just a battle of the mind, and you’ll want to learn how to silence the negative thoughts in your head so you can start attracting the life experiences you deserve.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I was a full-time social media strategist before I won the pageant so I was already getting ready to get back in the community doing interviews and events after covid.

Although my main focus this year is Ms. Curve Texas; I am still serving my aspiring influencers who want to develop their B.R.A.N.D. and monetize their Instagram. During my 6-weeks program, I teach them how to leverage social media, affiliate marketing, digital and physical products to create multiple ways to generate income for themselves.

When researching about influencer marketing I found a study that showed that even in the social media world black women still don’t get paid as much as their other counterparts. (MSL Communications)

We all know everyone loves the work of a black woman, but nobody is willing to pay her for her work.

I decided to find a way to level the playing field by giving other aspiring influencers (especially woc) the tools they need to create their own income online. My method helps them leverage their knowledge and skillset so while they grow online, they can attract more partnerships from big companies, without having to be dependent on them for income.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Hmm, good question. For anyone just getting started in any endeavor the best thing you can do is plan your goals, work them backwards, and consistently do things that are going to push your business/B.R.A.N.D. forward.

Don’t be afraid to push yourself out of your comfort zone. If you lack in an area, it is your responsibility to fix it. If you are a business owner/B.R.A.N.D. Ambassador and you’re shy it will be your responsibility to join a Toastmasters Club or take a public speaking class. If you struggle with time management, it is up to you to focus on creating a schedule for yourself every day.

More than anything I just want people to know that your life is your responsibility. You have to do the work. No work, no reward.

It is simple, but anyone can achieve their goals as long as they preserve through the tough times and work hard to make their dreams happen.
