Hi Michael, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
My photography journey began when I became a mother. My firstborn was born almost 9 years ago and from the day he was born, I knew I had to document everything I could!
The love and passion that came with photographing my son inspired me to attend college to study photography. I started my business by photographing families, events, and weddings but I knew something was missing until I found Boudoir! Boudoir is a one-of-a-kind life-changing experience! You actively watch your clients arrive shy/timid with a sense of uneasiness to walking out the door with a newfound sense of self-worth and soaring confidence!! For the last 7 years I have helped serve over 600 amazing women and have the honor of calling them my clients but mostly my forever friends!! I love the community we have built and I wholeheartedly believe I have the best job in the world!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been anything but straight! I was diagnosed with ADD this past year. As I look back over the last 9 years, I can clearly see how my ADD/OCD/perfectionist tendencies affected me as a female entrepreneur. I struggled to share my work because in my mind if it wasn’t perfect what was the point. I struggled gaining enough confidence and being okay with the weight of rejection and criticism. For many years I could not practice what I preached! It was SO natural for me to walk into a session and remind my client how amazing, beautiful, worthy she was. I was constantly BAFFLED that these women could not see how phenomenal, unique they truly were. But I struggled to see it within myself. BUT after many years of healing, I too now see the beauty in being myself and sharing my art!! And even though the road was hard it was beyond worth it because now I wake up every day ready to changes women’s lives through my Boudoir photography business
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At LUX Boudoir co. we are a fully female staff with a Studio Manager, professional Hair&Make-up Artist, Photo Editor.
We all do our special part to make sure that each and every client has a luxurious and one-of-a-kind experience!
We prep our clients before they even get to the studio! Each women gets LUX prep guide and detailed communication before their session! Our clients have a checklist so they know exactly what to wear, what to bring, even down to where to park!!! We pamper our clients with speciality drinks, mini facial, and Professional Hair&Make-up application! Then we go through your outfits and that is when the party begins!! I work my superpower!!! Which is to make you feel super comfortable and relaxed!!! I am SO excited for my part of the experience I open up very quickly by showing my goofy side and quick-witted jokes — which have us both laughing for the next hour! Before you know it, we are done with the hardest part and you can’t wait to see the images captured!!! About a week later our client get to pick out their images to put into our hand-crafted leather album and other heirloom quality products! And that’s not even the best part! The best part is the new found sense of community and deep friendship that came from being brave enough to try this experience! We host many client appreciation nights through the year and look forward to seeing our clients over and over!
