Daily Inspiration: Meet Michelle Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Jones.

Hi Michelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
When I was in high school, my mother gave me a Kevyn Aucoin makeup book, and I studied all his looks for hours on end. I would make my friends model the makeup and styling I created and then photograph them. It turned into my passion for the past 18 years now. I learned photography and posing one client at a time and eventually found my own unique style. I honestly feel that God gave me this gift and that through my photography, I show women just how amazing they are. It’s easy to lose track of ourselves sometimes, and reconnecting back to yourself is important. Showing my clients their unique beauty is what I love the most about what I do. Whether that’s a boudoir, modern glam, or maternity session, they get to see themselves in a new light. After years of showing a woman her beauty back to her and knowing the impact that can make, I feel incredibly blessed to do what I love for a living. It’s incredibly rewarding, and each client is very important to me. I had a beautiful studio in Washington state, but I’ve just relocated to the beautiful state of Texas! I’m so excited to meet new clients out here and share my love of beautiful portraits and make my clients feel amazing inside and out.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Learning how to grow a photography business and make it a career is a lot of hard work, and the most significant part of being creative is we always second guess ourselves and get in our own way. So, learning about self-growth and all the other hats I have to wear has been challenging at times. You have to do the work, but it’s all worth those learning curves and ups and downs along the way when you get to connect with amazing women and hear their stories of why they want to be photographed.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been lucky in my career of almost 18 years to photograph some of the most amazing women. I love that I get to give them beautiful images that they will cherish for years to come. I have been a hair and makeup stylist just as long as I have been a photographer, and I love giving my client a full pamper day in the studio. As a woman, it is so easy to put ourselves last on the list, but what kind of example are we setting for our children if we aren’t making ourselves a priority? In each photoshoot, I encourage you not only to reconnect with yourself but to embrace your beauty. Embrace it just as you are now; a strong, beautiful woman that should be celebrated. Embrace it the way you would hope your daughters would. Embrace it, knowing that you are so loved and more valuable than anything in this world. I am a Master Photographer with The Portrait Masters and placed 3rd in the boudoir category in 2018. I specialize in boudoir, contemporary glamour, maternity, and personal branding. I want all women of all shapes, and sizes to realize that their true beauty IS better than what they see in magazines. I
