Today we’d like to introduce you to David Barnes and Shaunda Burkhalter.
Hi David and Shaunda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
We met and bonded over a love for House and Techno music while living in Oklahoma City. We found ourselves often traveling across the Midwest to experience events that created a vibe that resonated with us. Over time we shared this experience with our friends and eventually found ourselves in the studio, birthing Mofax.
We worked hard to capture that true underground feel and bring something that the city hasn’t seen in a while. We began working with promoters to help curate events that revolves around House and Techno culture.
Flash forward a couple of years; we were getting invited to headline as well as provide support across Texas and Oklahoma. Since then, we have had multiple signed releases and became a well-known name in the electronic scene of the Midwest.
The journey doesn’t stop there, as we prepare for a mini tour and more music releases this Summer.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There’s been many ups and down. We received a lot of no’s, which is expected as upcoming artists, but those red lights started to turn green.
Staying true to our sound could be seen as difficult, but we pride ourselves in being able to stand out.
The path will not always be smooth. Understanding and preparing for that has us ready to hit the long road.

Producing House and Techno has been nothing short of a blessing. Matt Sassari, who’s signed all of our tracks to his label Panterre Musique, is a dream come true on its own. Taking the soul out of House and installing it in a Techno engine is our flavor of the two genres.
