Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Moore-Stuart.
Monica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Oh my… well to sum it up, I was abused at an early age. I had 2 children from this abusive relationship. I got out tried to move a few times. Fast forward to years later, I started having health issues blacked out at work one day ended up in the hospital. There were four doctors telling me basically I wasn’t going to be able to do nothing in life because I was having seizures and I had so much damaged in my head they reference it like what they see in professional football players. So, I made a vow to God that if He would give me an ounce of my life back, I would spend every day helping someone. So, I started a Domestic Violence Organization, wrote a book, started training all walks of Law Enforcement and I go all over speaking about Domestic Abuse. This is not all, but it sums it up a bit. There’s a lot more to tell.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
You know it’s hard to talk about Domestic Abuse, lots of people don’t like to talk about it until it hits home for them. It took me 20 years and even then, I was still a little scared. I’m sometimes a voice for the ones that can’t speak. It’s also hard trying to fund the Non-Profit, but I will not give up. I’ve had to house women and children out of my own pocket. When I first started this, I was mocked and talked down own. It’s hard trying to get some Law Enforcement to understand just how important their jobs are. But again, I will not stop.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an Insurance Adjuster have been for about 5 years. I specialize in helping others, especially women, children, and the elderly. I’m known to get the job done by all means, if the front door is closed, I’m going around back if there’s no door, I’m climbing the roof. Also, I’m really big on Honesty, confidentiality, and loyalty. When God allows someone comes out of a bad situation and lives to see another day that’s what makes me proud. I think what sets me apart is that I’m willing to go that extra mile for whoever it doesn’t matter who it’s for.
How do you define success?
Success is the accomplishment of a purpose. I think my success came when I made that first move to speak out for myself and others be able to advocate. Also, when God allowed me to run a successful business but most of all changing lives.
