Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Matthews.
Hi Morgan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Morgan Matthews. I am a music producer of ten plus years. I have written and produced music for superstars such as Alicia Keys, Gunna, Miguel, 21 Savage, Luh Kel, Queen Naija, Tory Lanez, Conor Maynard and Anth Melo, Kiiara, Rkomi, K – Clique and many others. I have worked on 5 number 1 projects now in my life. I started writing music earlier on with an acoustic guitar and a notebook. I later moved onto recording with a four track cassette tape recording machine. This experience would eventually lead me into working more in the digital realm and using DAW’s. My family brought me up with music every week. They all played different instruments or sang for our local churches.
I continued writing and pursuing music everyday and night until I reached a new level. Eventually, people would reach out to me and ask if they could sing over my music and how much it would cost to use it. I learned that I needed to understand more of the music business side of everything and how to understand royalties and how they worked. My grandparents had a small storage unit or shed in their backyard where I would create music. I have written songs that have played on the radio back there and then I have written songs that no one has heard! I drank caffeine everyday to keep myself going and writing. I remember even writing up artist agreements. Today, I have been blessed to continue living my life with music and to continue in the music business. I have a brand new company – Addictive Music Group – where we develop new artists and producers. We distribute, manage, promote and operate as a record label now.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
What I’ve noticed in life is that whenever I reach a new goal, there is more pressure and absolutely more struggle. I am used to this and know how to deal with it now. I will continue to make the most of every single day. There have been many days where I have wanted to throw in the towel but I don’t.

Most people come to me for guitar-driven music. A lot of people might know me for working on Alicia Keys’ song “Show Me Love.”
