Hi Nautica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It started with the gift idea of receiving a keychain we saw online, messaged the owner, but no response. Never had we seen anyone within DFW that has anything like this. Instantly, the idea was brought to life! We were funded by a great friend to start the custom self-defense keychains. We ordered products to assemble and customize self-defense accessories for the keychain. We have made such an impact on so many of our supporters/buyers by securing them with their favorite self-defense accessory or self-defense keychain.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning and operating your own business is never easy, but with the dedication we’ve poured into SecureYourselfSis, it’s been an honor and a joy to continue securing anyone and everyone. I will say being a mother, working a full-time job, and balancing some “brain break” time can make things a little difficult. Time management is the key you need when it comes to running a business. You need balance in your life for you and for everything else, otherwise, you’d go insane!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
SecureYourselfSis started with creating custom self-defense keychains that included items such as: a kitty claw, pepper spray, an alarm, etc. We have several prints for your key fob/wristlet and matching accessory holder to match your aesthetic, along with your self-defense accessories. We knew we needed a bit more, so we invested into other self-defense accessories such as: stun guns, an assortment of discreet knives, pepper sprays, and the kitty claws being sold separately to once again, match someone’s aesthetic. We’ve heard so many back stories as to what or how our customers were led to us that have ultimately motivated us to keep doing what we’re doing. Keeping everyone SECURED. We take pride in our business. It’s never been about money or having our name on a billboard. The people keep us going no matter what.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was always been the quiet, shy, reserved girl that never spoke up or said what I really felt. I never dealt with confrontation very well and immediately got so nervous that I’d just freeze up. I felt more like a pushover, but never seemed to understand that growing up. Now, you could say I’m the complete opposite! I don’t mind saying exactly what’s on my mind when it needs to be heard. I don’t mind standing up for myself or someone else who felt defensive. We continue with SecureYourselfSis to hope everyone has this same amount of security within themselves
