Hi Ne , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
G.Hustle The Brand originally came from my first clothing Brand Gorgeous Hustle. I started my brand because I’m a single mother of 4 and I believe there’s no such thing as having too much money. I’ve always worked a 9-5 but that wasn’t enough for me and my kiddos to live a good life. I’ve been braiding since I was 14, so I made that my hustle. The “G” in G.Hustle is for Global. I named my Brand Global Hustle because I feel like everyone in the world can relate to the hustle. Whatever you have to do to take care of your kids, your family just to make sure everything is straight, it’s a beautiful thing because taking care of your family is what matters the most. G.Hustle The Brand will be a Global Clothing Brand!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Entrepreneurship is just hard within itself. You have good days and you have bad days but you can never give up. The ones you think will support you, actually don’t and probably never will. I’ve gotten discouraged along the way, like girl what are you doing but then God will literally say to me, girl I gave you this gift for a reason use it or you will lose it!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
G.Hustle The Brand is my clothing brand that I started in my home. I would be up crafting late hours and riding around the city with my T-shirts in a duffle bag in the backseat of my charger trying to sell them and I did it all by myself. Everything is made by me. The bright ideas will pop up in my head but never will the ideas come when I sit down and be like, I need to drop a new shirt or a new outfit. No, it literally comes to me when I’m driving, shopping in a grocery store or having a picnic at the lake with my kiddos and I be like ohhhh…. and I’ll hv to put the idea in my notes on my iPhone or I’ll forget it. My proud moments are when I craft an outfit or a shirt the way I actually visualize it. It brings tears to my eyes because I’m really passionate about my brand and I’m making it a reality. What sets me apart from others is that every piece I drop has a meaning to it, you just have to pay attention to the names when I drop them.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Being an entrepreneur, you definitely have to take risks. That sometimes will come with loses but I don’t look at it as loses, it’s more of a lesson. Your perspective has to be positive when you’re an entrepreneur. Learn from your lessons don’t complain.
