Daily Inspiration: Meet Olivia Orbin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Orbin.

Hi Olivia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The first time I picked up a camera was the beginning of highschool. I found an old Canon camera in my mom’s closet and immediately wanted to take photos as well as be in front of the camera. This was the start of taking photos of friends for fun and posting the photos on instagram but never received any commission (I was like 15 so duh hahha). Once I was a junior in highschool I decided to take a step back in my 15 year long soccer career and asked the coach if I could become the team photographer and somehow he said yes! This lead me to become the girls soccer photographer in high school for about two years. Once graduating, I went off to the University of Oklahoma and rarely was reaching for that old Canon camera. Until the very end of college, when we realized photographers were expensive but my friends wanted senior photos around campus. I took their photos (very horrible quality photos) but this sparked my desire to take photos again. After graduating college and moving back home, I had so much more free time and reinvested time and money back into this passion of mine. That was around October of 2024 and here I am today! Still working full time as a financial analyst while spending majority of my time off taking and editing photos, and I’ve loved every second of it!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Struggles was the fear of never being booked. There are TONS of DFW photographers it is so intimidating but I think my past in sports has given me that confidence to try.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My specialty is wedding, couple, and senior photography. For what I am known for would be keeping shoots fun and comfortable, I like to attempt to make jokes and actually make sure the person/people in front of my camera are actually having a good time. I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve made while having this job, either from clients who are now invited to my wedding to other photographer who I consider friends, it brings me so much joy to have created that.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My fiancé, friends, and family, I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
