Daily Inspiration: Meet One More

Today we’d like to introduce you to One More.

One More started in the Fall of 2019 when bassist and founding member Brandon Scheiber reached out and found Matt Gregg to be the band’s lead singer and frontman via a Facebook musician’s group. They talked about the types of music they both shared a passion for playing and listening to and also what kind of music was not being represented in the Dallas tribute band scene. Once Matt was cemented as the frontman, they quickly found Stewart Reep and Nicole Koch to hold down drums and rhythm guitar, respectively. The only thing missing now was a lead guitarist that would not only put on a great show but had the musical chops to blow away whatever audience they performed for. After playing with a few that didn’t work out in the end, they found Javier Vidaurre, a classically-trained guitarist originally from Peru.

Now with all five positions filled, One More was complete and able to bring the best rock covers to the DFW music scene. They perform rock music ranging from classic rock bands such as ZZ Top and Jimi Hendrix to more modern and alternative rock like The Black Keys and Third Eye Blind.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being able to play with such incredibly proficient and professional musicians has made the band gel very quickly. We’re able to communicate very efficiently on stage and know how to transition in songs based off of quick glances at each other. As with any musical project, it takes a little bit of time and dedication to get the ball rolling, but once the band started to get quite a few gigs under our belt, the momentum has picked up and is really going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One More is unique in its song selections because the first criteria for any song we choose is whether we, as a band, like a song. We listen and decide if it would be fun to play on stage with each other first because we know that if we don’t like the song, the audience will feel that and it won’t have the same effect that we’re going for.

We’re up there rocking out for us just as much as for the audience. That kind of creative energy has a very authentic and genuine feel to it that we think engages the audience in a whole different way.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being able to look out from the stage and see an audience jumping around, singing along with the music and having the best time during our shows. There’s this incredible energy exchange that happens between the band and the audience during a show that is hard to describe but is incredibly fulfilling. It’s that feeling you get as an audience member when you leave a show feeling completely energized and alive, and the same for us when we step off the stage. That feeling is why we do what we do.
