Daily Inspiration: Meet Payton Howie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Payton Howie.

Hi Payton, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started writing and performing at 14 years old and quickly realized this was what I wanted to pursue seriously. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to share stages with artists I grew up listening to, which pushed me to grow as both a songwriter and performer. My sound has developed into a blend of country and soul with a little grit, and today I’m focused on building a catalog that’s honest, strong, and unapologetically me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most independent artists, I’ve had to learn the business side while building the creative side, navigating setbacks, and figuring out where I fit in the industry. There are highs and lows, and not every release or opportunity goes the way you hope. But those challenges have made me sharper, more resilient, and more clear about the kind of artist and career I want to build. The fans and family you make along the way make everything worth it. I truly feel grateful that I can wake up every day and genuinely do what I love.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a country artist and songwriter, and I specialize in blending grit and soul into honest, hook-driven songs. I’m known for strong female perspectives, independence, being a little fiery, and for bringing a lot of energy to my live shows. I’m most proud of building my career independently, growing a loyal fanbase, and creating a catalog that truly reflects who I am. What sets me apart is that balance of edge and vulnerability. It’s country, but it has attitude, depth, and a little bit of swagger.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to stay genuine. The more I’ve leaned into who I actually am instead of who I thought I needed to be the stronger everything has become. People connect to honesty, not perfection, and I’ve seen firsthand how powerful that connection can be. When the music, the branding, and the way I show up are all aligned and real, it creates a deeper bond with the people listening and that’s what truly matters to me.
