Daily Inspiration: Meet Radicubs Robotics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Radicubs Robotics.

Hi Radicubs, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2018, Sahil Jain and Caitlin Fukumoto founded our team as a club at Rick Reedy High School in Frisco. However, the school administration severely restricted us financially, so we established ourselves as a community team the next year. We serve as an outlet for students to explore engineering, programming, and business through the FIRST Robotics Competition. Our members design and build competitive robots while leading outreach that has introduced STEM to more than 2,500 young students. Through teamwork, mentorship, and community involvement, we aim to inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders in STEM.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of our biggest challenges is maintaining financial stability. As an independent, student-led team with no direct school funding, we rely on sponsorships and community support to cover competition fees, equipment, and travel expenses. Securing consistent funding each season is difficult and often limits what we can accomplish. We also face challenges finding a permanent workspace. Without a stable build location, we frequently move equipment and materials between temporary spaces, which makes it harder to store tools, meet regularly, and build efficiently. Despite these obstacles, our team remains resourceful and committed to building opportunities for students!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We design, build, and program 100+ lb. robots to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Beyond competition, our team leads community outreach through free STEM workshops, coding classes, and robotics demonstrations at local schools and libraries. We also mentor younger students and other FIRST teams across North Texas, sharing knowledge, resources, and support to help them grow. Every aspect of our team is student-led, from project management to media and business operations, creating a space where students learn leadership, collaboration, and innovation while giving back to their community.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
While our students drive the energy and effort behind each season, we wouldn’t be where we are without the people who stand beside us. Our team of 30 dedicated students is supported by mentors who give their time, knowledge, and patience to help us grow. Rich Wisneski and Joel and Susanna Fukumoto have guide us with handling purchases and managing team administrative tasks. They deserve tremendous credit for their support and shaping us into better engineers and collaborators!
