Daily Inspiration: Meet Ronson Fox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronson Fox.

Hi Ronson, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Fort Worth Wranglers were established in January 2024 by a passionate group of individuals who shared a love for traditional country music, dancing, and the vibrant culture that has long been synonymous with Texas. This diverse group, which includes both native Texans and transplants from various parts of the United States, recognized a growing need for a community space where people could come together to enjoy country dance, receive quality instruction, and celebrate the traditions that have made country music and dancing a staple of American culture.
The Wranglers’ mission is to create an inclusive, welcoming environment where people of all skill levels—whether beginners looking to learn the basics of two-step, triple-step, waltz, polka, triple-two, and line dancing, or seasoned dancers refining their craft—can find both education and a sense of community. By offering group lessons, private sessions, and regular social dances, the Wranglers aim to foster a space where participants can not only improve their dancing skills but also form lasting friendships and connections.

Ronson Fox, currently heads up the Fort Worth Wranglers. While Ronson leads the charge, he is far from alone in making the Wranglers what they are today. Many members of the group play an active role in running the day-to-day operations, ensuring that the organization functions smoothly and continues to grow from within.

This collaborative approach is part of what makes the Wranglers so unique. Rather than a top-down structure, the organization operates like a community—with each person contributing their talents, time, and energy to help sustain and build the group. Whether it’s instructors helping to plan lessons, volunteers assisting with event coordination, or members offering support and guidance to new dancers, teamwork is at the heart of everything the Wranglers do.

In addition to providing excellent dance instruction, the Fort Worth Wranglers also host events that highlight live country bands, bringing local talent into the spotlight and keeping the spirit of classic honky-tonk. Our events are designed to create an authentic, enjoyable experience that celebrates the history and future of country dance. Whether someone is attending a weekly dance lessons, participating in a themed event, or simply stopping by for a night of music and fun, the Wranglers are committed to ensuring that everyone who walks into our events feels like part of a tight-knit, welcoming family.
Looking ahead, the Fort Worth Wranglers are excited to continue building their community, expanding their educational offerings, and becoming a key hub for country dance in the heart of Fort Worth, Texas. With a strong focus on tradition, inclusion, and fun, the group hopes to inspire future generations to embrace the timeless joys of country music and dance.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the first hurdles was assembling a strong, committed group of people who shared the same passion for country dance and culture. While there’s a rich tradition of country music and dance in Texas, the group needed to establish a solid base of dancers, instructors, and volunteers to get started. Many of the initial members were newcomers to Fort Worth, and while they brought enthusiasm and fresh perspectives, it took time to connect with the local community and earn their trust.

As a new organization, the Wranglers faced the challenge of standing out in a competitive market. Country music and dancing are deeply ingrained in Texas culture, but there was still the need to differentiate their group from other dance halls, bars, and entertainment venues. Convincing people that the Wranglers offered something different—a space for learning and community, not just social dancing—required a concerted marketing effort.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Country dancing, like any skill, takes time to learn. If you’re new to it, the most important thing is to be patient with yourself. It’s easy to get discouraged when things feel awkward at first, but remember that even the most experienced dancers were once beginners. Every dancer has been where you are—feeling unsure of the steps or hesitant to get on the floor. Start by mastering the basics—things like timing, rhythm, and footwork. Once you’ve got those down, it will be easier to build on them and start incorporating more advanced moves. Don’t worry if it takes a while to feel comfortable; just keep practicing!

Practice Regularly, Even If It’s Just a LittleWhen you’re starting out, consistency is key. You don’t have to practice for hours each day, but even a few minutes every week will help you internalize the steps and develop muscle memory. Try to practice at home in front of a mirror or in a relaxed setting. You don’t need a partner for this—just focusing on your footwork, body posture, and rhythm will make a huge difference. At the same time, make sure to attend regular classes or social dances. Being in a group setting with others will not only give you more opportunities to practice, but it will also help you get over any nervousness about dancing in front of people. The more you practice, the more your confidence will grow!

Focus on Connection, Not Perfection. Country dancing is as much about connection as it is about technique. Focus on connecting with your dance partner (if you’re doing partner dances) and with the music, rather than striving for perfection. The more you get lost in the rhythm of the music and the flow of the dance, the less you’ll worry about getting every move exactly right. In partner dancing, particularly, it’s important to stay in sync with your partner. Lead with confidence (or follow with ease) and focus on your connection, rather than trying to hit every step perfectly.
