Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra McLain. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Our goal was and still is to provide affordable, designer labels to the southern parts of Dallas County. As a teen, Sandra was privy to the consignment shops that were located in the northern parts of Dallas and was intrigued by the idea that she could buy gently used, designer labels at a fraction of the cost! We originally started with a few racks of clothes and a full-length mirror in our home garage in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, TX under the name Ideal for You. From there, we moved to multiple Dallas locations before ultimately closing in 2006 due to the overwhelming workload that comes with running a retail business alone. After listening to her mom reminiscence about her shop for years after it closed, LaSina decided to be her mom Sandra’s business partner and reopen the shop under the name iDeal For U as a partnership. In 2011, iDeal For U opened in Cedar Hill, TX. Now that Sandra has consistent help with the shop responsibilities, she gets to focus more on her passion of scouting for merchandise and bonding with her customers.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest obstacle of running a consignment shop is ensuring your shop is stocked with various fashions of various sizes to meet the needs of our various customers. We feel we do a great job of it but it definitely takes time and of course a great eye for finding unique items. We love our loyal consigners who definitely play a HUGE part in keeping our shop stocked!
