Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Reeves.
Hi Sarah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a singer-songwriter originally from North Alabama. I spent the last 15 years in Nashville, Tennessee, growing my career as a recording artist with Curb Records. Recently, I relocated to Fort Worth, Texas, and I’m loving the change of scenery and pace.
I come from a family of musicians in Alabama, where I first discovered my love for music by playing piano and singing in church. My dad was part of the legendary Muscle Shoals era, and he played a big role in shaping my musical foundation and passion.
At 18, I moved to Nashville and signed my first record deal with Sparrow Records as a Contemporary Christian artist. It felt like a natural fit at the time, given my upbringing and musical roots. Those early years gave me invaluable experiences like touring across the country (and internationally), releasing albums, and falling deeply in love with the art of songwriting and performing.
Over the years, my sound has evolved as I’ve grown as a person. Life experience has a way of deepening creativity, and I found myself wanting to write about more real, raw, and human things. I’ve always loved pop music and eventually decided to crossover into the mainstream/pop realm. My heart is to make music that brings hope and light to people both inside and outside the church.
More recently, I’ve developed a passion not just for writing and performing, but also for producing – creating tracks from the ground up. It’s been a new and exciting challenge that’s pushed me creatively in fresh ways. I’m currently producing my own project, set to release in 2026.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been without its challenges along the way. The music industry has changed so much since I first started. Social media barely existed when I released my first album in 2009. I remember being on MySpace (showing my age here!), which was the big thing back then. Today, the industry is bigger, louder, and far more crowded. In some ways that’s a good thing, because social media has become such a powerful tool for connection. Some of my songs have gone viral, and that’s how many people have discovered my music in recent years.
But with that comes the constant pressure artists face to share so much of their personal lives online just to stay visible. I definitely feel that at times, but I try to approach it with authenticity and a sense of fun rather than obligation.
I recently married my husband, filmmaker Bill McAdams Jr., who’s based in Fort Worth. We actually met on the set of his film God’s Here, which is now streaming on Apple TV, Prime Video, and other platforms. Both of us came into the relationship as divorcees, and together we’ve had so much fun building a new life and sharing glimpses of it on social media. Billy has helped me embrace who I am, love myself more fully, and tell my story with honesty without worrying so much about what other people think. I’m deeply grateful for this chapter of life and the peace and purpose it’s brought.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Over the years, I’ve worn a lot of hats. I’m a singer, songwriter, producer, and now even a composer, scoring my first film, God’s Here. I think that’s one of the things that sets me apart: I’m involved in so many different aspects of the creative process. There aren’t a ton of female producers out there, and I really hope to inspire more women to step into that space. It takes a lot of practice and consistency, but it’s such an empowering feeling to be able to walk into a room in my house and build a song from the ground up – just creating something out of nothing. Of course, I still love collaborating, but there’s something special about knowing I can do it myself.
I’m really proud of the work I’ve done over the years. I’ve had the chance to collaborate with incredible artists like Kirk Franklin, Brandon Lake, and Armin van Buuren, and recently my last three pop singles all landed in the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot AC charts. My current single, “Cloud Nine,” just broke into the Top 40, which is a record for me and my label.
But honestly, what I’m most proud of right now is the project I’m working on – my upcoming full-length album “Standing Up”, coming in May 2026. It feels like the most authentic and empowering body of work I’ve ever created, and I can’t wait for people to hear it.
