Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Dalrymple.
Scott, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I studied business in college and was always on the look out for a business to buy. I have an ophthalmic background so I bought an optical shop about 12 years ago. The broker I worked with had Atomic Candy come up for sale. I loved the vibe of the store and the numbers were very good so I sold the optical shop and have had the candy store for a little over 4 years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am not interested in reinventing the wheel so I always looked for businesses that had been around awhile and of course successful. There is a learning curve to each type of business but it did not take long to adapt. The previous owner retired and has been extremely helpful..
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Atomic is known for its variety of candy as well as different novelty items. Also a great collection of odds and ends on display throughout the store.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I have read many business books and biographies again to learn from other people’s experiences.
