Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Linde
Hi Scott, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Great to be here with you and your readers. Scott Linde here, owner and founder of Sun Potion, Transformational Foods. I started this project on my 30th birthday, February 2011. This February will be 14 years of independent operation. Sun Potion started from my own passion for absolute best-quality examples of Tonic Herbs and Adaptogens. These can be summarized as preventative health products and plant extracts which are meant to build the body’s resilience and adaptability to modern life. Whether we are nourishing the immune system, building healthy hormone balance, or supporting health in the nervous system; the method and goal is the same//add a small amount of “the good” daily as a vehicle to feeling amazing. Sun Potion products are not meant to treat health problems, but as preventative measures to avoid problems from starting in the first place. Founding Sun Potion with $10,000 in savings, and avoiding taking investor capital has allowed the company to stay nimble and focus on the goal of bringing these life-supporting products to as many people’s daily routine as possible. It has been a true joy and adventure to see Sun Potion grow and mature in the health markets of today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning, there were a few standard operating procedures for the business: It had to be simple. It had to be fun. And it had to be easy. This ethos has allowed the company to flourish with a minimal amount of business traumas. Sun Potion’s standards for quality sourcing have not wavered since the beginning days. We don’t cut corners in any part of the business. The business strategies are rooted in common sense and high standards of excellence. This has allowed us to avoid many of the pitfalls that other businesses may struggle with.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I believe we are all called to be Creators. My personal mission in this life has been to offer best-quality health products to the market, to offer them as an invitation, and to educate customers about how to make them a part of their daily lives. In the early days of the business, Sun Potion was instrumental in introducing adaptogens to the market. There were other companies, founders, and personal mentors in the space whom were supportive to me on my mission. Something as common today as “Ashwaganda” was not in the general vernacular of the health world at that time. Never mind that many of Sun Potion’s herbs have been revered for hundreds or thousands of years for their life and health-giving properties; they were neither widely known about nor available in quality form in the market. I am proud that Sun Potion has played a role in bringing these fantastic plant materials to the mainstream.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I have always been a very curious and passionate person. I find myself going on deep dives into so many different topics. Through high school and college, I was obsessed with endurance athletics. Long distance running, cross country skiing, mountain biking, the list goes on. I was on the US Triathlon Team when I was 19 and placed fifth in the world for Junior athletes at a race in Calais, France. Looking back, I was basically railed on endorphins for at least 10 years of my young adult life. I absolutely loved the body experience and high of training and competing at extreme levels. As I matured, I brought this drive and commitment to spiritual endeavors, minimalist and outdoor living, and learning about plants and herbalism. When I was introduced to Tonic Herbalism and Adaptogens through a meditation teacher, I was thrilled to experience how good I felt with them. It’s like the runner’s high of my youth had come back. This time in the form of morning teas, rituals, and the daily practice of enjoying these plants. These experiences prepared me to start Sun Potion and motivate me still today to share these truly Transformational Foods with others.
