Daily Inspiration: Meet Shaqueena Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaqueena Smith.

Hi Shaqueena, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi my name is Shaqueena Smith-Smith I am a native of Dallas Texas. I am the daughter of a Pastor, yes a PK kid. I began ministering and speaking at my local church at age 24. I was license to be a minister and elder as well as a motivational speaker and life coach. I definitely had structure in my spiritual life, but lacked the tools, techniques and guidance I needed to effectively help others physically, mentally and emotionally. God impressed on my heart to enroll into college and I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Science Psychology in Addictions. I saw the need to bring mental health awareness to our communities, churches and abroad. I continue the work by speaking at conferences, seminars, forums, panels, churches, colleges and so much more. I want to educate the young and old in our communities about how important it is, to take care of your, mind, body, soul and spirit. I conduct conferences, seminars, forums, group sessions, on grief, emotional intelligence, self esteem, depression, anxiety and more. I have worked in the prison systems as a substance abuse counselor and therapist as well as worked in the mental health field as a QMHP, case manager in intensive mental health services.Whole health is the key;mind, body, soul and spirit. I want to help others become free of anxiety, depression, fear, anger, worry and doubt and live an extraordinary healthy life that our Creator ordained for us to live. I also founded my non-profit organization, Helping to Heal Humanity to continue the work in our communities and abroad.

Helping to Heal Humanity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health and ongoing mental maintenance for individuals of all backgrounds—regardless of race, color, creed, religion, or economic status.
Our mission is to create wellness for the whole person: mind, body, soul, and spirit. We believe true healing happens when all aspects of an individual are nurtured and supported.
We serve the Dallas and surrounding areas by providing:
Mental wellness classes
coping skills, support group sessions, life coaching and
mentorship programs through education, empowerment, and compassionate care. Helping to Heal Humanity works to strengthen individuals, families, and communities—one whole person at a time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. From being a single mother of two daughters one marriage ending in divorce, the loss of salon business, health challenges as well as loosing two homes in a house fire, the challenges were many.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a substance abuse specialist and mental health professional for an intensive mental health program in Dallas Texas. I am a motivational speaker, mentor, minister and life coach. What I am proud of the most is my beautiful family. I honor my loving husband, two beautiful daughters and two granddaughters.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
