Today we’d like to introduce you to Shemaré.
Hi Shemaré, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born Travante Shemare Edwards in Lake Charles, Louisiana. This young entrepreneur began his journey shortly after attending Grambling State University in 2015. he began modeling for Strut LA Modeling Troupe, gracing stages and learning more about himself. In the very near future he gave rise to Shemaré being born. Shortly after returning from a mandatory evacuation, Shemaré released his 1st single, Mistake (Hell) and began his journey as an artist. Shemare stumbled around aimlessly for the next couple of years until he moved to Dallas, Texas full of renewed energy. He revamped his modeling career, doing several mainstream commercials. T.T.E. Apparel has been revamped and restructured ensuring a smooth transition into its next season. Even starting an acting career, sporting many commercials, movies, tv shows, and music videos (namely BigXThaPlug’s 2AM music video). And as an artist just released his new single Sumn’ Different on April 7th.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
He eventually left Grambling State University after having his son and founded Trained To Eat (T.T.E.) Apparel at the age of 21.
Shortly after purchasing his first home/office space, turbulent times approached as Hurricanes Laura and Delta swept across Southwest Louisiana. These category 5 hurricanes left the city of Lake Charles and many neighboring cities in shambles, causing most residents to relocate and Shemaré was no different.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
T.T.E. Apparel – Trained To Eat Apparel is clothing brand I started at 21 when my son was 2. My son still owns 25% of my company til this day.
Tri-Pod Photography- started off as just a side business so I didn’t have to pay for a photographer for my clothing brand, but has taken on a life of its own.
Shemaré – I’ve been singing all my life, but after releasing my 1st song in 2021 I was determined to release more and #MakeRnBGreatAgain
Modeling/Acting – whether standstill, commercial, or even runway I was determined to be able to give a show. I’ve now translated that to film as I’ve been in several movies, commercials, tv shows, and music videos. Most namely Dallas’ very own BigXThaPlug’s 2AM music video.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I don’t have a mentor per se, but I will tell you to be very observant. Watch those that are in positions that you would like to be in one day. Study to show thyself approved. Always be yourself, no one can be you and that’s usually the best way to distinguish yourself from others.
