Daily Inspiration: Meet Stephanie Nicole Arevalo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Nicole Arevalo.

Hi Stephanie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Born and raised in Dallas, TX! I’ve always loved art since I could remember as a kid. I love art in all different interpretations! I started off painting and drawing portraits and was inspired by decor, in its entirety! I wanted to create memorable projects that were designed personally for the individual each decor article is designated for. With a little imagination, YouTube tutorials, Pinterest inspos, art exhibits, and a Cricut – I decided to just start and create decor ideas with my take on it and share those ideas on my own art page for social media. Since then – I’ve had family, friends, and new acquaintances ask me to create their ideas and place orders. My small business, ‘LRDC Decor’, has been growing officially since August of 2021 and remains growing faster than what I anticipated. I’m also always looking for new ideas to widen the services I offer.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say there has been a few bumps as in regards to gathering materials and also figuring finances. As someone who is still figuring out the take on a small startup business, I am doing constant research as in providing great quality decor projects and finding materials while trying to sustain pricing. I’m also currently seeking efficient business tools to help track orders and increasing exposure to the decor I offer.

Also, when I first started, I was very reserved on how I wanted my creations to appear and the “look” I wanted each one to give off. I was getting stuck in my head and timid about exploring what I was going to create, how I was going to deliver the look I wanted, and I was getting stuck in my safety net which was restricting me from creating new ideas. The business aspect of it was starting to graze over the passion. But luckily my biggest supporter, my husband- Francisco, reminds me each time to have fun and break all my safety nets when creating each piece. He reminds me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and art is meant to be shared and interpreted by the receiver. I truly thank him for being my second pair of hands and my first pair of eyes.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Some of the decor projects entail wood burning, heat transfer, and engraving. I also provide personalized painted portraits.

I create personalized: paint kits, seasonal decor signs, wood burned decor projects, doormats, ornaments, cutting boards, pizza boards, etc… the list can go on, but that’s the beauty of it – the ideas are endless!

What sets me apart from others is two things – I, personally, contact, create and deliver your decor idea(s) into a reality. I believe every article or piece made should be made solely for the person or event it is designated for. Just like each person is different, each project or decor article is also different and unique.

I’m proud of all my creations because I know each one was created with such care and passion!

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes, most definitely! I was beyond lucky that although my full-time job did not face hard cutbacks and lay-offs, mental anguish and hardships are in fact one of the many issues our society has faced during Covid-19. During my own personal hardships from childhood to adulthood, I’ve always relied on art as my escape and a way to interpret my feelings and emotions. I took that and created my small business which in return has created a healthy release for me while providing happiness to others. & That is what has been the most rewarding! I’ve been blessed to take my talents and create an opportunity that can bring joy to others! & Although the Covid-19 Crisis has brought on the Age of the Great Resignation, I also admire the businesses that have started during this pandemic in pushing dreams further into reality. Such a crisis brought on so many leaps of faith, and I am here for it with total support!
