Daily Inspiration: Meet Steven Trevino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Trevino.

Hi Steven, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started in November of 2020. I’m living at my mom and dad’s house detailing cars and cutting hair for a living. I called my brother and sister one day and said “I’ll pick up your dog poop every Friday for $15.” They were both in! My neighbor agreed as well.

I told myself if I get 100 customers, I can make a great living!

My brother bought me some door hangers that said I Scoop Poop. So, for a few weeks, I went to almost every house in my neighborhood and put a door hanger on their front door. It was a lot of walking lol.

My brother decided to help me with the routes, scheduling, advertising, and collecting. He now owns 40% of the company.

We are happy to say we now have over 350 weekly/bi-weekly customers and continue to grow today. It’s been such a blessing. Faith and hard work got us to where we are today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been smooth. My brother and I are very compatible. We have great employees and reliable trucks.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My name is Steven Trevino I’m the President and CEO of I Scoop Poop, LLC. I pick up dog poop for a living! I have weekly and bi-weekly rates. I service certain cities on certain days.

I ask all my customers to please leave their gate unlocked on the day I service their yard. After I service the yard, I’ll leave a door hanger on their back door that says “You’ve been serviced by I Scoop Poop”.

After each visit they can pay threw Venmo, Zelle, cash, or cash app. Totally up to them!

My appointments are recurring.

Most of my customers now pay $16 a visit for weekly services but I have some who are bi-weekly at $27 a visit(every other week). I have to deal with over 2,000 lbs of poop a week! Yes, I have pictures! My nickname now is “Scooper Steve” because I scoop so much dog poop lol.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking?
I have taken risks. Risks of buying used trucks that might not be reliable, every day I risk the fact that my employees can leave a gate unlocked and a dog get out, life is a risk. But I’m not the one to sit, hide and be cautious. Careful? Yes. But I like to explore new doors that open in my life. I believe if you pray, work hard and have faith that any risk is worth taking if it’s for a good reason!

Pricing:

  • 1-2 dogs=$16 weekly $27 bi-weekly
  • 3-4 dogs=$20 weekly $35 bi-weekly
  • 5-6 dogs=$25 weekly $45 bi-weekly
