Daily Inspiration: Meet Tajee Almon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tajee Almon

Hi Tajee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Aurora Coffee Co. began as a shared dream between my wife, Auryonah, and I rooted in our mutual love for coffee and meaningful conversations. Coffee has always been more than just a drink for us; it’s a vessel for connection, a way to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences. As believers, we wanted to create a space that reflects our faith, fosters genuine relationships, and offers a moment of light and warmth in people’s lives.

Our journey officially began in 2024 in Frisco, Texas, after we moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. From the start, we knew we wanted to create something unique—a mobile espresso bar that could cater to pop-ups, private events, and community gatherings. We designed Aurora Coffee Co. to not just serve exceptional coffee but also to spark meaningful conversations and build community, one cup at a time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to building Aurora Coffee Co. has been fulfilling but far from smooth. Like many small business owners, we faced our share of challenges that tested our resilience, faith, and creativity.

One of the earliest struggles was dealing with equipment delays. For example, our espresso machine shipment was significantly delayed, forcing us to purchase a lower-quality machine just to meet our deadlines for events. Additionally, as a mobile coffee cart, navigating the logistics of permits and legal requirements has been a learning curve. From acquiring a special events permit to ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, we had to educate ourselves on the nuances of running a mobile food business in Texas. This was especially tricky because some permits have long lead times, which could interfere with booking events.

Finally, building brand recognition in a competitive coffee market was another hurdle. We knew that Aurora needed to stand out by creating experiences, not just serving coffee. Engaging with our community through social media and pop-up events has been crucial in overcoming this obstacle. Despite these struggles, we’ve remained committed to our mission: fostering meaningful connections through coffee and Christ. Every challenge has strengthened our foundation and prepared us for the road ahead. Through it all, the support from our community and faith in God have been our guiding light.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aurora Coffee Co. is more than just a coffee business; it’s a passion project focused on creating spaces for connection, reflection, and joy. Our work is rooted in faith and community, and we specialize in bringing a mobile specialty coffee experience to events of all kinds, from weddings and corporate gatherings to neighborhood pop-ups.

We pride ourselves on offering a full espresso bar, serving high-quality coffee drinks crafted with precision and love. Our menu includes not only classic favorites like lattes and cappuccinos but also unique options like matcha and cortados; ensuring there’s something for everyone. Beyond the beverages, we excel at creating a welcoming, personalized experience that turns ordinary moments into extraordinary ones.

One of our proudest moments was launching Aurora Coffee Co. at The House Fort Worth’s MEN ONLY Breakfast, where we were embraced by our community and introduced our mission to a wider audience. We’re also incredibly proud of the relationships we’ve built with local vendors and our growing network of supporters.

What truly differentiates Aurora Coffee Co. is our faith-driven approach and our commitment to fostering genuine human connections. While many coffee businesses focus solely on product, we prioritize the experience—ensuring every interaction feels authentic, warm, and uplifting. Our mobile model allows us to meet people where they are, offering both flexibility and convenience without sacrificing quality.

At Aurora Coffee Co., our goal is not just to serve great coffee but to leave people feeling better than when they arrived. We believe that’s what makes us stand out in a crowded industry.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck; I believe in God. Throughout my life and in building Aurora Coffee Co., my faith has been my driving force and firm foundation. Every step of this journey has been guided by His hand, from the vision of creating this business to the opportunities that have come our way.

When challenges arose—like navigating logistical hurdles or balancing finances—it wasn’t “luck” that got us through. It was prayer, perseverance, and God’s provision. Every connection, every breakthrough, and every moment of growth has been a testament to His timing and favor.

I’ve found that trusting in God, rather than in chance, has provided peace and clarity even during uncertain times. Aurora Coffee Co. is not just a business to me; it’s a ministry and a calling. Our success is a reflection of God’s faithfulness, and I give Him all the glory for where we are today.
