Daily Inspiration: Meet Tammye Mims

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammye Mims.

Hi Tammye, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tammye Mims, and I am a professional Wardrobe Stylist with a lifelong passion for fashion. Originally from Waco, Texas, I relocated to Dallas in 2004, where my personal style and creative vision continued to evolve. Fashion has always been a part of who I am—I’ve loved clothing and personal presentation for as long as I can remember.

I began styling about 10 years ago as a hobby, with my very first client being my husband, music artist Devian “Big Binky.” I started dressing him for performances simply for fun, but as his looks gained attention, people—especially men—began asking me to style them as well. Styling men quickly became my specialty. I enjoy the challenge and the transformation process, which pushed me to lean fully into that lane.

My first major professional break came when I styled film director/writer Terrence Jones “Mista E” for his red-carpet appearance for the movie Triple D Revenge. From there, my work expanded into photoshoots, video shoots, and additional clients. While I do style women, I initially entered the industry as a men’s stylist.

As my passion grew into a business, I officially launched Touched By Tamm Image Consulting, LLC, also known as @tbtpersonalstylist. Like many creatives, I experienced moments of pause—working to find my brand voice, my audience, and the right opportunities—before stepping back briefly to focus on family.

In September 2024, I made the decision to fully recommit to my craft. I began rebuilding my content, networking intentionally, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. That same month, I set a personal goal to attend New York Fashion Week for the first time. While searching for show access, I discovered an open call for wardrobe stylists and model dressers—and I took it as my sign to expand. I applied to eight NYFW shows, despite having limited fashion-week experience publicly visible at the time.

Just days later, I received my first call from Monique Obeze, Founder and Creative Director of Unieke Mode NY. After a Zoom interview, I was offered my first NYFW role as a Wardrobe Stylist Assistant. Shortly after, I received additional opportunities with Art Hearts Fashion and The Ethereal Show. My mother Michelle Cauley “My Momager” and I were soon on our way NYC.

That first season exceeded all expectations. From there, I was invited to work LA Fashion Week, Miami Swim Week, NY Swim Week, and more. I also presented my first Wardrobe Stylist Capsule Presentation with Unieke Mode Swim Week—an unforgettable milestone in my career. In September 2025, I returned to NYFW and was honored with the Unieke Mode NY Fashion Stylist Award.

I’ve had the honor to style collections for designers Bishme Cromartie X Adidas, Pia Bolte, Samuel Gartner and many more.

To date, my work has been published four times across multiple fashion weeks—a true full-circle moment from hobbyist to recognized stylist.

Now, I am preparing for 2026, which includes invitations to style for two international fashion weeks, continuing to expand my global footprint and elevate my work on an even larger scale.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has definitely not been a smooth road, but every challenge played a role in shaping who I am today.

Early on, one of the biggest struggles was simply figuring out how to break into the styling industry—understanding how to find clients, how to network, how to get noticed, and how to secure clients who were willing to invest in a stylist who wasn’t yet styling celebrities. Navigating budgets, valuing my work, and learning the business side of styling took time and a lot of trial and error.

When my passion transitioned from a hobby into a business, there were moments when it started to feel more business-heavy and less fun, which led to periods of discouragement. At the time, I didn’t have mentors or anyone in my immediate circle working in fashion, so I had to learn everything on my own. Looking back, I truly appreciate that experience—it forced me to build confidence, resilience, and a strong work ethic, and it makes how far I’ve come even more meaningful.

Life was also happening alongside the journey. I was raising a family with my husband and our **three children—Baylee, Ace, and Kayson—**while maintaining a full-time career. I had just received a promotion, which required my full focus, and when COVID hit, I made the decision to pause my styling business for a couple of years. Throughout the years, I took intentional breaks, allowing myself to reset and reconnect with styling in a way that felt joyful again rather than pressured.

Returning to the fun and creative side of fashion is ultimately what brought my passion back to life—and that shift changed everything.

I did not attend fashion school. I actually graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Criminal Justice, with plans at one point to become a detective or crime scene analyst—a surprise to many. However, my passion for fashion never left me. I’ve learned that purpose doesn’t always follow a straight line, and sometimes your true calling finds you in unexpected ways.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Wardrobe Stylist and Image Consultant with a strong focus on runway styling and personal styling where I curate complete looks and manage wardrobe execution from concept to showtime. My work spans runway shows, fashion weeks, red carpets, photoshoots, and visual media, and I am deeply involved in both the creative and technical sides of styling.

While I began my career specializing in men’s styling, my work has evolved significantly. Today, I am known as a runway wardrobe stylist who curates cohesive collections and looks for designers and productions. My niche and creative signature live at the intersection of streetwear and bold luxury, incorporating eccentric statement pieces, strong silhouettes, and elevated edge. I love pushing boundaries while still creating looks that feel intentional, confident, and unforgettable on the runway.

I am most proud of the fact that I’ve built my career through hands-on experience and consistency, rather than a traditional fashion-school path. I’ve styled and assisted backstage across New York Fashion Week, LA Fashion Week, Miami Swim Week, and NY Swim Week, presented my own Wardrobe Stylist Capsule, received the Unieke Mode NY Fashion Stylist Award, and have been published four times for my styling work. Each milestone represents growth, risk-taking, and trust in my creative vision.

What sets me apart is my ability to blend creativity with execution. I understand the fast pace and high-pressure environment of fashion weeks, and I’m known for being organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented backstage while still delivering strong creative direction. I don’t just style garments—I tell stories through clothing, using fashion as a form of expression that resonates both on and off the runway.

At the core of my work is authenticity. I bring passion, preparation, and purpose into every project, and I’m excited to continue expanding my work nationally and internationally.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is my Barbie collection. I was an avid Barbie collector, and my mom, granny, and family always made sure I had them—including collector’s edition dolls. I had full Barbie setups and worlds, and looking back, that was my first introduction to creativity, styling, and storytelling through fashion.

I also have very fond memories of traveling as a family. We took trips every summer, and those experiences exposed me to new places, people, and cultures at a young age. I believe those moments played a big role in shaping my curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for expression—all things that still influence my work today.
