Daily Inspiration: Meet Trixie Torres

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trixie Torres

Hi Trixie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2019, I was teaching High School English when I started to feel that I wasn’t working in my true gifting: writing. I began researching online work-from-home writing jobs and came across a couple of YouTube videos from a local freelancer in the DFW area.

It piqued my interest because I wasn’t aware that copywriting was a sustainable or even possible career path. For almost a year, I spent time researching and understanding more of what copywriting entailed.

I signed on for another year of teaching, still thinking about copywriting and working from home. Then the pandemic hit, and everything changed. Education during the pandemic took a toll on many teachers across the nation, including myself. Our responsibilities increased while the students’ motivation declined. It was emotionally and physically exhausting, and it affected my mental health.

In 2022, I made the difficult decision to resign from my comfortable teaching job and start freelancing. I submitted my resignation and started my copywriting business, Marie Ink Copywriting. To be honest, I had no idea what I was doing, but I was starting a writing business anyway—”Learn as you go.”

I had many doubts, faced many challenges, and dealt with imposter syndrome, but I kept focused on improving my craft and learning as much as I could. I dove into the world of digital marketing, copywriting, social media, sales, business, and personal development.

My life, since then, has drastically changed. I began to heal childhood wounds and started therapy, reading books on mindset, attending networking and business seminar events (even as an introvert), meeting like-minded people, and doing things I never thought I could do.

Months later, I was offered a position as a copywriter at a B2B company. This job has taught me everything I need to know about marketing, copywriting, and the sales funnel, working with an incredible team of product managers, sales representatives, and other key team members.

These last two years, I have invested in multiple courses, coaching programs, and seminars to improve different facets of my business and skill sets. I know having a freelance business is not only about writing; it’s about building relationships, learning sales, having processes and operations in place, and becoming an expert at your craft.

Today, I continue to invest in my personal development to grow as a leader and a business owner. The most exciting part about this journey is how much I’ve learned about who I am and who I want to become. For me, starting a business isn’t just about being my own boss or making my own schedule, but it’s about building my character and becoming the version of myself that I never knew existed.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There is no such thing as a “smooth road” regarding business struggles and challenges. I faced many internal and external challenges, and I still do. I firmly believe that the only place you can grow is in uncomfortable situations; the trials and tribulations build you, but the fruits are super sweet in the end.

One of my biggest challenges is shifting my mindset and overcoming impostor syndrome. I also struggled with perfectionism, setting boundaries, and believing I had what it takes to make this a reality.

Also, growing up with a fixed mindset was a significant challenge and is an ongoing process.

I will be honest; I struggled with questions like: Do I have what it takes? What will everyone think? Am I worthy enough to do this? What if I fail?

Questions that have the power to sabotage success, but the key is to not dwell on these thoughts and convert the questions to positive statements: “I have what it takes, “It only matters what I think,” “I am worthy,” and “when I succeed.”

Along the way, I’ve built positive relationships with people who are incredibly goal-oriented, encouraging, and kind. They’ve built me up on days when I feel like giving up—we need people and community.

I often heard this phrase in sermons: “Bigger Levels, Different Devils.” The higher you go, the different challenges you face –This is good! Struggles allow room for growth and improvement.

Every challenge and struggle may not look the same but value this opportunity to learn from them.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I write sales copy for holistic health and wellness clients and brands. My specialty is crafting engaging email campaigns, persuasive sales pages, and social media marketing content that connects. With my background in this industry and specialty, I break down complex health concepts into relatable and easy-to-understand language.

What sets me apart is my unique mix of skills and experiences. My literature background means I can weave storytelling into my copy, creating narratives that impact emotionally. I also have a background in persuasive writing, helping me write messages that don’t just inform but persuade and motivate, too. My copy doesn’t only capture attention – it tells stories and drives action.

I’m always eager to learn and stay up-to-date with the latest trends in digital marketing, copywriting, and health and wellness topics. This curiosity means my clients get fresh, trending strategies in their marketing efforts. I don’t just write words; I create experiences.

By blending my health and wellness knowledge with storytelling skills and understanding persuasive techniques, I craft copy that educates, inspires, and converts. I aim to help my clients build real connections with their audience while meeting their business objectives.

The most exciting part is every project is a chance to grow, to push my skills further, and to make a real difference for my clients. It’s not just about being a copywriter – it’s about helping and serving others along the way.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is making a difference in people’s lives by educating them on nutrition, diet, exercise, mindset, and the holistic approach to living a happy, well-balanced life.

Happiness and joy are attainable, but this doesn’t negate the circumstances, traumas, and unforeseen events people experience. People can take back their minds, their life, their health, and ultimately their future. That’s what I want to communicate through my words – people hold the power to change the trajectory of their lives.

As a first-generation daughter of immigrant parents, there were many things I had to figure out on my own. I thought life was supposed to be a certain way but the fact is, change is achievable if you’re willing to put in the sacrifice, effort, and eagerness to improve your circumstances.

If I could tell my 15-year-old self this, my life might have changed earlier. So, my focus is to help others understand this concept so they, too, can change their lives. It’s about empowering people to realize their potential and take control of their well-being, no matter where they’re starting from.
