Today we’d like to introduce you to Ty Hamilton
Hi Ty, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Ty Hamilton, from Dallas Tx. and I’m the owner of 199Scrilla clothing company. I started the clothing company around 2013 with some close family members, but before that I was mostly into sports growing up. Until one day I just got into my creative bag when I needed an outfit for a party. The styles were so liked that people would offer to buy clothes from me, and the business has been growing steadily since then. Once the name came to mind we’ve worked hands on learning everything else needed to know about running a successful company.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think there are any smooth roads ever, especially in Dallas! You learn how to manage things with time though, but having the right information or resources was a struggle for us for some time. Even having the budget for ideas we wanted to do, but every L is a lesson. We learned how to network properly and use what we have to work with sometimes.So fairly smooth no but was the journey worth it, most definitely!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the founder and lead designer of the clothing company 199Scrilla. Specializing in creative directing, event management and I have some experience in producing films and music. I am mostly known for creating Scrilla and being apart of our music movement G.W.A.P. I would say that I’m most proud of our fashion shows that we have been doing, especially this one we have coming up this June 22nd. It will be our biggest show ever and I believe doing our own thing even when others may not see the vision yet sets me apart.
What are your plans for the future?
Besides the fashion shows, more short films/movies , music shows, and traveling mostly getting the whole world involved with this G.W.A.P Scrilla movement. Creating more jobs and opportunities for people in our communities. Helping others even if it’s just simple information or resources cause we know how important that can be. Hosting different events to be creative and network also. So as you can see the future looks bright and busy for us, we just have to make it happen and put the work in.
