Daily Inspiration: Meet Yvonne Macias

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Macias.

Hi Yvonne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a healthcare entrepreneur and advocate with a deep passion for serving underserved communities across Texas. As the Owner and CEO of Amore Home Health Services and Mylar Health Services, my work is grounded in compassion, quality, and a commitment to creating meaningful, community-based care solutions. I believe every individual deserves access to services that support dignity, independence, and an improved quality of life.

As a clinician of 30 years working with pediatric special needs I recognized critical gaps in services available to adults with special needs, particularly within the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Many individuals were struggling to access consistent therapy services and structured community support. This realization led me to establish Amore Home Health Services, where we provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy, with plans to expand into music, behavioral, massage, and recreational therapies to better serve the whole person.

To further strengthen the continuum of care, I founded Mylar Health Services, which provides Individualized Skills and Socialization (ISS) Off-Site services covered through Medicaid Waiver Programs, including HCS, Texas Home Living, and DBMD. Through these programs, we support individuals in developing life skills, increasing independence, and engaging meaningfully within their communities rather than institutional settings.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything I do. I actively seek partnerships with providers, agencies, and community organizations that share the same mission of client-centered care. My long-term vision is to expand services throughout the state of Texas while setting a standard for ethical, high-quality care. Through my work, I strive to create lasting impact—one client, one partnership, and one life at a time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a single mother of three and a caregiver to my disabled mother, pursuing my dreams—for myself, my family, and the patients I serve—was never easy. There were many moments when the weight of responsibility felt overwhelming. I always carried a deep desire to give back and help my community, but for a long time, I wasn’t sure how to turn that passion into something sustainable and impactful.

A few years ago, my journey changed when I was given the opportunity to learn essential business skills under the guidance of an incredible mentor, Geno Garza. His belief in me and in my vision gave me the courage to step out in faith and open my own agency. With his leadership and encouragement, the dreams I once held quietly began to take shape and become a reality.

Building Amore Home Health Services and Mylar Health Services has not been without struggle. One of the greatest challenges has been reaching families who could truly benefit from our services, as well as navigating the financial demands of starting and sustaining an agency. For a long time, I worked a full-time job while simultaneously building both companies—all while remaining fully present as a mother. The balancing act was demanding, but it was necessary.

I firmly believe that only through the grace and leadership of God, and the incredible people He has placed in my path, has this journey been possible. Growth has been slow and intentional, but I prefer it this way. Taking the time to build thoughtfully allows me to ensure that every decision is made with integrity, purpose, and the highest standard of care. Step by step, my dream of serving families and strengthening my community is becoming a reality.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have been a pediatric Physical Therapist Assistant for over 30 years, and throughout my career I have had the privilege of serving individuals across the lifespan in a wide range of clinical settings. My experience includes working in school systems, autism centers, private clinics, home health, neuro-rehabilitation facilities, and nursing homes. I have also provided care to the geriatric community through both facility-based and home health services.

My professional journey has taken me across Texas, where I have worked in El Paso, Houston, and the Dallas–Fort Worth area. These diverse environments and communities have shaped my clinical approach and deepened my understanding of the unique needs faced by individuals and families navigating therapy and long-term care services.

At the heart of my work is a deep love for serving the special needs population, particularly pediatric special needs. Building relationships with children and families, supporting developmental progress, and empowering individuals to reach their fullest potential has always been the most rewarding part of my career. This passion continues to guide my work today and is the foundation upon which I have built my agencies and my mission of care

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
y journey has been filled with challenges, and I could not have accomplished this without the unwavering support, encouragement, and guidance of my business mentor and dear friend, Geno Garza. He gave me the confidence I needed to take a leap of faith and open my own agency so I could serve the families I had long felt called to help. Geno saw my heart for service and my determination, and he did everything he could to help me overcome the self-doubt that once held me back. His belief in me made it possible for my vision to move from an idea to action.

Another vital pillar in this journey has been Nancy Nunez. She played a key role in creating momentum for both Mylar Health Services and Amore Home Health Services through her dedication to marketing, outreach, and relationship-building. Nancy has an unmatched ability to speak with heart, conviction, and confidence about our mission, and she never accepted “no” as an answer when advocating for the families we serve.

Through her efforts, Mylar and Amore have built strong relationships with agencies, community-based programs, and nonprofit organizations that share our commitment to supporting individuals with special needs and their families. Together, we have positioned Mylar alongside exceptional programs and partners that focus on inclusion, empowerment, and meaningful community integration. These partnerships continue to strengthen our mission and expand our ability to serve those who need us most
