Hi Derick & Andrenette , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The start of my day is pretty consistent: I like to meditate, make a smoothie, and do some stretching before my morning workout
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the owner of COOKOUT Kitchen, a food brand dedicated to bringing delicious, high-quality meals to our community.
Every Saturday and Sunday, you can find our tent at the Frisco Fresh Market, where we serve up our signature dishes. Beyond the market, we operate a mobile food truck, which allows us to cater events, including weddings and parties for local businesses.
What makes us special is our commitment to flavor and community. We take pride in creating memorable food experiences, whether it’s a quick bite at the market or a full catering menu for a special occasion.
Looking ahead, we’re focused on a big goal: working with investors to open our first brick-and-mortar location. This will allow us to serve even more people and continue to grow our passion for great food.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell myself to be patient and to remain focused on the goal. The path won’t always be easy, and you’ll experience both successes and failures, but each one will be a valuable part of your story. As long as you never lose sight of your purpose, you can overcome any obstacle.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
A lot of us believe that a strong social media presence or a viral influencer post is the ultimate solution for success. While those things can offer great exposure, I believe the real foundation for a thriving business is built on a simple recipe: excellent food, top-notch customer service, and being consistent enough that your customers become your biggest advocates. That is the kind of word-of-mouth marketing that truly maintains and grows a business
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, absolutely. The motivation to do my best comes from a sense of personal integrity and the satisfaction of a job well done.
Praise is a wonderful bonus, but it’s not the reason for the effort. The real reward is the knowledge that I’ve met my own standards of excellence and contributed my best work. Whether anyone notices or not, the quality of the work is what truly matters, and that is a constant I can always control
