Destane, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’m a celebrity hairstylist located in Dallas. I specialize in extensions and healthy hair. I started my hair journey three years ago fresh out of high school on faith. I was sick and was in a situation with family and needed to make money so I had prayed and asked God “what do you want me to do” Started doing traditional sewins the next day, my business reached so many people with just a post on social media.
After that word of mouth got big and God began to place me in places I didn’t have to work hard for it’s just what he wanted for me and was purposeful for my life. Here I am three years later still listening to God. Getting ready to open up my second space called Famous the Beauty Bar! Another journey that I’m getting ready to blaze with God the whole way and I’m excited to kill it all by the grace of God! I’m a fighter; my goal daily is to come out on top and to show others that they can win too. Everything happens for a reason, and I’m glad that I can make that statement look and sound good! Can you give our readers some background on your work?
I specialize in Hair Extensions. It’s been three years since I’ve started my journey of doing something that I’ve never done once upon a time, but it’s what God wanted for my life. I’m so humble and thankful for such a gift. Every client my prayer is that God uses me, not only to enhance the outside but enhance the inside. That was something huge that I had to learn. It was always there I had to grab ahold to it. Accept my calling! It’s not just always the money, faith teaches you that as long as you are in Gods will that you will be blessed regardless.
Once I got it, I knew that all money wasn’t good money. And not to hustle just for the money but also to save someone’s life by bringing every client closer to God. Not only bring them closer to God but show them that you can have all your heart desires just by knowing where your help comes from. There have been times where I tried to do it my way or someone else way, and it never worked. Here I am, three years later! Gods not done with me yet.
Any advice for aspiring or new stylists and other creative professionals?
Trust God! Be you! Surround yourself around good energy! Know that your journey is meant to be different! Every round goes higher. So, don’t be afraid of change because it’s how life should go. Elevation is good! Everything happens for a reason. Cover your clients! Let them know that they are loved & that they mean a lot to you. That’s what God wants us down here to do is to let everyone know that they are love. Any regrets no! Of course, there’s things that I wish I knew but I’m only 21, and I don’t know it all, so I believe that there were some things that I didn’t get or understand that has made me stronger today.
