Eddie Pierce’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Eddie Pierce. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Eddie, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’m not a (huge) fan of being on camera, hearing my voice, or singing in public. The beauty of my life’s purpose and my work with Rainbow Room Publishing, LLC (RRP LLC) is all of that, and more importantly, my growing comfort level with who I am and the use of my talents have taught me to fully embrace all that I am. The end result, to borrow a phrase from that clown with the golden arches… “ba da da da daaaaaa… I’m lovin’ it!”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Eddie S. Pierce, most notably, Founder, Publisher, and Author with Rainbow Room Publishing, LLC (RRP LLC), est. 11-12-2011, where we publish and market literary work that educates, inspires, and entertains while actively pursuing our four main objectives: Promoting Literacy, Increasing HIV/AIDs Awareness & Advocacy, Advancing Human Rights, and Supporting Small Businesses.
Together with the other two (current) divisions, “RRP LIVE” (our YouTube Channel) and Kaleidoscope, the upcoming digital art magazine, we seek to provide price-conscious services, opportunities and to further the aims of creative professionals across the wide spectrum of the arts, professions, and business industries. At Rainbow Room Publishing, LLC, we don’t just sell you a book! We give you an experience! Furthermore, we aren’t building a brand! We’re building an institution!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Another affirming blessing in the pursuit of my work is discovering that I’ve always been an artist/publisher, marketer, and advocate. As a nine-year-old, I would write short (mostly sci-fi) stories on college-ruled paper. This included illustrations, binding the “books” with twist ties from bread loaves and trash bags, illustrating the scenes with colored pencils, and finish it all off with illustrated covers and make-believe imprints on the back (publishing). From there, in much the same manner as any young, proud artist, I’d show my masterpieces to any and everyone with a fearlessness I sometimes struggle to find nearly 40 years later as a professional (marketing). Those early works were often modelled after and inspired by cartoons of the 1980s, Biblical stories, comic books, mythology, and folklore. I now know that I was indirectly furthering and promoting the morals and life lessons of my “source material (advocating). It is extremely gratifying to discover this path was something I chose without prompting, but continue in part because of outward encouragement.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
(In the voices of my Grandmothers, Alease Johnson, Earlean Pierce, and Katie Smith) Sugar, you are amazingly blessed and gifted. You are just having fun right now, but what you are doing is building a concrete foundation upon which you under Divine Order and Grace, will build an institution that will serve the needs of countless people, not the least of which includes you. Continue to create. Be ye steadfast and unmovable with respect to your God inspired dreams. Remain flexible. Most importantly, keep having fun. Thank you for igniting and fueling the spark. Life is great on this end! LOVE Infinitely, 47-year-old “Lil’ Eddie.”

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
If your dream is only “about you,” the goal is too small and almost certainly doomed to fail. The vested interest in the well-being of others is one of the things that prevents me and others from giving up. The aim isn’t to “save” anyone nor to help “everyone,” but providing assistance where one can yields numerous benefits to you and your business, which far exceed but also include (potentially greater) monetary gain. We don’t have to fight or compete for one slice of “the pie.” Together we can bake and eat from a s*** ton of pies!

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I most hope to be remembered as someone who educated, inspired, and entertained everyone I could with a purpose. That they felt seen, heard, and loved. That in my living testimony, they saw faith at work, fearlessness, discipline, creativity and resourcefulness, gratitude and generosity, the fair, compassionate conduction of business, and that motivated and equipped them to do far more than I ever accomplished. Something that pays not only my efforts forward but also the contributions of those on whose shoulders I comfortably and securely stand.
