Check Out Yesenia Mejia’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yesenia Mejia.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was first introduced to all things fashion and beauty through magazines that would arrive in the mail at my grandmother’s house addressed to my Tia Bridget, the youngest of my mother’s four sisters. I would wait for my mother to pick me up after school every day and there on the living room floor of my grandmother’s house, my cousins and I would flip through magazines new and old. My Tia had so many magazines, more than you could ever imagine–she had them all. She would always gift us her old magazines. My mother saw I loved magazines so much that soon I had my own subscriptions arriving monthly. I’ve always loved cosmetics and especially all body products, so that is what it all began with. In 2017 I began to develop cystic acne so severe I was embarrassed to be seen without makeup. I needed to find a solution to my problem, so I myself began to see an esthetician for my acne. At that time, I had tried it all including seeing a dermatologist and taking medications. Nothing seemed to help until I began to have weekly facials specified to my skin needs. It was only until then that I saw a true difference in my skin. Immediately I feel in love with skincare and I myself decided to become an esthetician.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I first started my career as a licensed esthetician in March of 2020 a very difficult time for us all. Starting off was hard only because everyone was skeptical about everything around them during and after the COVID-19 epidemic. Beginning your career in the beauty industry is hard but even harder during this time. I have worked every hard every day doing my very best work on each client. I continue to work very hard every day 7 days a week.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed esthetician working in Oak Cliff. I am most known for all brow services including brow mapping, shaping, waxing, tint, henna, and lamination services. I enjoy services the most only because there is an instant gratification for the client and myself. Brows are an essential and have the power to completely change the look of the face. Brows change lives!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
No luck just hard work, consistency, and wanting to be the best at what I do.
