Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Tabb.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been in the beauty industry for over 16 years. I left a full scholarship at an HBCU to pursue my dream of being a cosmetologist. Now I’m licensed in Arkansas, Texas, and Georgia to working a salon and teach the skills needed to be a professional hair stylist it was not easy, but my dream was worth the work
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the challenges were people trying to discourage me. People told me to chose another profession. I also had to drive a long distance to go to school. There was an hour-and-a-half one-way commute. I struggled to put gas in the car and have lunch at the same time. Once school was done, I had to get the clients and KEEP the clients!!! It’s hard work but necessary work
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about AMT Salon and Hair Replacement Center?
I operate a salon that offers all phases of hair care, especially cutting and styling, extension services, and hair replacement services.
I’m known for pixie weaves and sewn extensions.
What sets me apart in this industry is integrity and honesty. I offer options so I can make the best decisions for the client and retain them as clients
I’m most proud of my integrity because this industry has gotten such a reputation for bad business practices. I believe that the honest will take you far!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
You should always have your papers in order in case grants and other things are available to your business! Do not procrastinate on getting taxes done and having all documents in place. Also, have a plan to make income. Thankfully I offer virtual classes, instructional DVDs, and wigs. That kept me afloat!
