Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lawrence.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am Amy Lawrence, Owner and Principal Designer of Amy Joyce Designs. I love to design, I love to create, and I love to challenge creative boundaries. I feel blessed to live this life no matter what the day may bring. If that’s focusing on my family, shopping for a client, or spending the day painting in the studio, there’s extreme satisfaction in knowing that my goal is always to create beauty and inspire good.
At Amy Joyce Designs, each project is an extension of my heart, a deposit into each meticulously designed space. New clients almost always become dear friends, and together we build spaces that inspire life and homes that spark joy. My interiors are not limited to store-bought offerings. For a personal touch and polished look, I often create custom artwork and accessories to make the ultimate statement pieces. Above all else, I want to make each client’s space come alive in a way that feels like home to them.
Amy Joyce Designs goes beyond design for me. It’s about leaving an impact, making a difference, and using my talents to influence others in a way that inspires them to do the same. That’s why inspiring good and giving back has become such an integral part of my business, specifically through Rockwall Meals on Wheels which is a big part of how I give back to the community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t want it any other way! I have had to work for every ounce of growth that has happened with AJD, and most of that growth has come from a great deal of trial and error. I have learned the best way to do things, but I have also made lots of mistakes along the way. I have had so many counterparts throughout and some of the most amazing clients who have been building blocks for AJD to grow the way it has! I’m thankful for everyone who has taught me so much throughout my journey, even if some of those lessons have been hard to walk through. It has given me the confidence to step into a space and see my vision in a much more precise way and build the ability to speak truth and authenticity to clients to create trust and push the limits of design. It’s all about crafting an honest relationship and getting them outside of their ‘box.’
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Try new things. Don’t follow trends. Listen to your gut and do things that you love, show ideas that may not be expected but will be appreciated in the long run. Love every part of the process, even the hard parts! It’s essential to build a team of people who all play different roles, but who all work well together. Also, I would go back and tell myself you can’t do it all. Learn when to say no and really focus on the parts of design that you love.
