Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Texas Taxes & Insurance was created because of our love for family and business. My Mother (Dolores) and I found ourselves opening up a business to create security for our families. Dolores was a single mother who struggled to keep a job with five children. Growing up we had many struggles, and a job just wasn’t enough. My mother had to get two jobs at times just to support her family. I was a young mother who wanted to be a full-time mom and work because it is what I knew needed to be done to help my family get through our struggles.
In 2012, we decided to partner up and start doing tax preparation. This was a huge help for both of us, but it was only seasonal. We wanted our customers to stay connected to us and feel like we were there for them, just like family. It was then we decided to add to our services and help our community. We have always wanted to help our community and teach them to become entrepreneurs themselves. We now offer services that help empower and educate our community on starting and running their own businesses.
We only hope to be a pillar in our community by helping and educating our families!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has this journey been a smooth road? Definitely not; I can assure you that we have sacrificed time, energy, money, and maybe even a little sanity to stay in business. One struggle we’ve had is slow growth. At Texas Taxes & Insurance we do our best to educate our clients and also do what is right. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misleading information given out, and some preparers do not really care to harm the clients. This being said, we try to really inform the clients and educate them on why we do things differently. I can say it has all been worth it. I think even if I was an employee at any other company, I would put in the same amount of effort. Because we care about helping others and doing our very best in whatever we do, I know that giving up is not an option. I would choose this road again and I can admit I love being a part of this business.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was for sure a social person. I just always loved people and helping when I could. In our house, I was the oldest of 5 and always took a leadership role with four younger brothers. Apart from being so close to family, I have always been interested in music, dancing, and reading, and I certainly was a dreamer. I kind of always knew I was going to be a CEO. I’m glad I had a mother who always encouraged me to follow my dreams, and getting married and having a young child was not going to hinder anything.
