Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Mayard.
Hi Andrea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always known I wanted to own my own business. Long before I understood what entrepreneurship really meant, I was drawn to the idea of building something that was mine—something rooted in purpose, impact, and independence. In college, while sitting in a science class, I remember filling an entire notepad with my first business idea instead of taking notes. I didn’t know all the steps yet, but I knew one thing very clearly: I didn’t want to follow a pre-written path. I wanted to create one.
Fitness and health became that path. What began as a passion for movement evolved into a deep curiosity about the human body—especially why so many women were doing “everything right” and still feeling stuck, exhausted, and disconnected from their bodies. As I gained experience as a personal trainer and functional nutritionist, I saw the same pattern over and over again: workouts without results, diets without answers, and women blaming themselves for systems that never addressed the root cause.
That realization shaped everything. Over time, I built my business around a more intelligent, sustainable approach—one that connects gut health, hormones, and progressive strength training to real, lasting transformation. Today, I own a luxury boutique personal-training and nutrition studio, where I work with women both locally and online. What started as a dream in a college notebook has grown into a business that allows me to empower women to feel strong, energized, and confident again—while also living out the dream I wrote down years ago: building something meaningful, on my own terms.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all—it’s been anything but smooth. My business has evolved three completely different times over the past 16 years, and each version required me to let go of who I used to be in order to become who I needed to be next. I often say I’ve retired, fired, and rehired myself twice, because there were moments when the business I built no longer fit the season of life I was in.
Life happened alongside the growth. I navigated major moves, motherhood, and unexpected personal changes—including divorce—while continuing to rebuild and redefine my work. There were times when starting over felt exhausting and even humbling, especially after having already “made it” once. But each reset brought clarity. Each version of the business became more aligned, more intentional, and more sustainable—not just financially, but emotionally and physically as well.
Those struggles taught me that success isn’t about never stopping—it’s about knowing when to pause, recalibrate, and begin again with more wisdom. The road has been nonlinear, but every challenge sharpened my vision and deepened my purpose. Today, I don’t see those pivots as setbacks. I see them as the very reason my business is as strong, resilient, and grounded as it is now.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about AndreaClaireFit?
My business is built around one core belief: women don’t need more intensity—they need smarter support. I own a luxury boutique personal-training and functional-nutrition studio that specializes in helping women heal from the inside out by addressing the root causes behind fat-loss resistance, low energy, hormonal imbalance, and muscle loss. Rather than chasing trends, we focus on a systems-based approach that connects gut health, hormones, and progressive strength training in a way that is sustainable and evidence-driven.
What sets my brand apart is that we don’t separate fitness from physiology. Many programs focus solely on workouts or calories; we focus on how the body actually functions. We’re known for what I call the gut-to-muscle connection—optimizing digestion, nutrient absorption, and hormonal health so the body can finally respond to training the way it’s meant to. That approach allows our clients to build lean muscle, reduce inflammation, regain energy, and see results that last, without burnout or extremes.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built. Our studio is intentionally designed to feel elevated, private, and supportive—especially for women who may have felt overlooked or misunderstood in traditional fitness spaces. Whether working with us in person or online, clients experience high-touch coaching, individualized programming, and education that empowers them to understand their own bodies. I want readers to know that my brand isn’t about quick fixes or aesthetics alone—it’s about longevity, confidence, and helping women feel strong and capable at every stage of life.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Yes! There are several books and podcasts I turn to when I want practical wisdom that feels real, relatable, and useful—whether I’m leading my business, navigating life, or just trying to think more clearly.
Books I Love
Atomic Habits by James Clear – This book breaks down how tiny, consistent changes compound into big results. It’s easy to read and full of tactical takeaways you can apply right away.
Start with Why by Simon Sinek – It helps you understand the deeper purpose behind what you do—especially useful as a founder figuring out why your business exists and how to communicate that to others.
Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss – A former FBI negotiator explains negotiation as a life skill, which has helped me in everything from contracts to coaching conversations.
Podcasts I Listen To when on long drives
The Tim Ferriss Show – Tim interviews high performers across industries and breaks down their routines, mindsets, and systems in a way that’s both inspiring and practical.
How I Built This with Guy Raz – This is one of my favorites because you hear the real stories behind iconic brands—the ups, downs, pivots, and lessons that come straight from founders.
The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett – Bartlett’s conversations dig into vulnerability, leadership, and growth—not just business strategy but how life and work intersect.
These are the kinds of books and shows that don’t just talk about ideas—they give you frameworks and stories you can actually put to work in your day-to-day life and business.
