Exploring Life & Business with Annabelle Alanis of Skin By Annabelle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annabelle Alanis.  

Hi Annabelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started my business because I wanted to make people feel beautiful and confident in their skin. At the end of 2019, I decided to just go for it and started to do facials in my apartment. I had just graduated from esthetician school that year and didn’t have any clientele at all but knew this was what I wanted to do. I made an Instagram account and would post 2-3x a week to get my name out there and get clients in the door. I was slowly getting a good number of clients and then covid happened and I had to close for 2 months. 

When I opened back up in May 2020, I was in my own house and had a separate area where I could have my business. From there, I just kept marketing myself, and with social media and word of mouth, I grew my business. In May 2022, I opened up a storefront in Waxahachie, Tx! I am so blessed and grateful for all of my clients and their support over the last 2 years. This has been a dream of mine, and it’s now a reality. I get to have a place where people can come and get self-care multiple ways; we have a lash tech, wax specialist, and myself for facials! I love being able to help people feel confident in their skin and to love the skin there in. Every day I’m excited to help my clients achieve their skin goals, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. I love meeting new people and sharing my life with them as they open up and share their life with me. My clients are some of the best people I’ve ever met, and I love my life with all of them in it! Thank you for trusting me with your skin, spending your hard-earned money with me out of all of the choices you have, and letting me be a part of your life and skin journey. I wouldn’t want to do anything else for a career. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say the biggest obstacle in my business would have to be Covid. I had just started to get a good number of clients and build my business when Covid happened. I felt discouraged that it would take me forever to gain clientele in a new city and with a pandemic going on. 

As you know, we’re big fans of Skin by Annabelle. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a licensed esthetician for 3 years and specialize in skincare treatments! I’m an acne specialist with Face Reality, and acne is my favorite skin concern to treat! Something that sets me apart from others is that I strive to make everyone feel welcomed and comfortable in my room. No matter what gender, what they look like, or what their skin concern is I’m here to help them with their skin and be confident in their skin. It makes me so beyond happy when a client gets the results they’ve been wanting after trying everything before coming to see me for treatments. The way it makes someone love their skin and feel confident in it is the best feeling in the world. 

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is loving what you do and doing it with passion. When you find what you’re passionate about, success comes easily.
