Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Nichol.
Hi Ben, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My inspiration for my business came from personal experience.
After immigrating from Australia and helping grow my dad’s business here in the US, I saw firsthand how difficult it can be for overseas companies, especially small and medium-sized ones, to establish themselves in America. Many have great products and strong potential but lack the “boots on the ground” needed to make real progress. The cultural differences are vast too – Australians don’t want to come across as too ‘pushy’, while Americans love being ‘sold to’. Australians can take a few business days to respond to emails, in which time, Americans have found someone else to do business with.
That’s why I founded G’Day Gateway. We give Australian businesses a US presence from day one, acting as their American representatives – answering calls, managing leads, following up with customers, and providing local market guidance, so they can focus on growth while we handle their US front line. We also offer product fulfillment services, which has come in handy for many businesses, especially in a world of tariffs.
I also recently made finalist in the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia Digital Economy Awards 2025.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been the easiest path.
One of the biggest struggles is convincing Australians that they should do business in the US, especially the older generations which tend to have a higher level of Anti-American sentiment.
I have received a lot of negative feedback from Australian business owners about who is in the White House, or that the tariffs aren’t worth dealing with.
At the end of the day, none of this matters, because there is so much opportunity for international businesses to succeed in the US, and plenty of businesses already enjoying that success.
We’ve been impressed with G’Day Gateway, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A lot of businesses looking to enter the US market can’t necessarily afford to open an office, and pay for salespeople.
We give Australian businesses the opportunity to dip their toes in the US market without having to make those huge commitments.
We offer ‘ghost office’ services, where we set up a virtual office for them and manage all of their US business enquiries. We also offer lead generation and third party logistics. Our aim is to be the one stop shop for Australian businesses entering the US market.
What sets us apart is that we have lived it and we know the pitfalls that most businesses make when coming into the US. We are able to offer guidance based off first hand experience.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can work with me by reaching out through G’Day Gateway. I’m always open to collaborating with entrepreneurs, businesses, and innovators who want to grow in the States. And if you want to support what I’m building, simply connect me with any Aussie company looking to expand to the US. I’m all about creating opportunities and opening doors for businesses that are ready to scale.
