Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Lutrell.
Hi Brianna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a love for two things – sugar and a good party. Honestly, Two Tiers Baking Co. started when I felt a little stuck in life and decided to push myself by doing one intimidating thing each week. One of those weeks I baked a heart shaped cake and I loved every part of it. It was so fun and made me realize I could mix my obsession with sweets and celebrations and turn it into something bigger. Now Two Tiers is my way of getting to show up for people’s biggest moments!
I truly believe that every cake we make at Two Tiers is more than just a simple cake. It is how we can be a part of someone’s sweetest life milestones! Whether it is a gender reveal, birthday, or wedding, I take each one seriously and always pause to pray over the cake and what it represents. It is my way of sending a little extra love and good vibes out to every customer.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our first cake sold in January 2022, so we’ve been serving Dallas for almost three years now. It’s been amazing, but it definitely hasn’t all been sugar and glitter. When the business first started, it blew up way faster than I could have imagined. I’ve never owned a business and everything took off so quickly so it felt like trying to build the plane while it was already in the air. There were nights I’d go to bed at 12am only to wake up at 4am with a LARGE cup of coffee and start all over again. The hardest part wasn’t just the baking, it was figuring out everything else that comes with running a business… pricing, marketing, deliveries, keeping up with orders, all while making sure every cake looked perfect and tasted amazing.
I’ve had weekends where I was buried in 20 cakes at once and wondered if I’d make it out alive! But each challenge taught me something new and pushed me to get smarter and more efficient. Now I have the best team by my side, and together we’ve turned the chaos into a bakery that is thriving and still obsessed with making every celebration feel extra special! Running Two Tiers has truly been a blessing.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Two Tiers Baking Co. is where sugar and parties come together! Planning parties can sometimes feel stressful, but at Two Tiers our motto is Happy Tiers Only. We make the sweet part of celebrating easy, fun, and unforgettable!
We’re best known for our custom vintage heart cakes that look gorgeous and taste even better. Our cakes are cute, girly, and a little over the top… exactly how a celebration should feel! What sets us apart is our mix of style and flavor. So many people order a Two Tiers cake for the aesthetic, but the biggest compliment we get is always, “It tasted even better than it looks!” We’re proud that our cakes aren’t just cute, they’re truly part of the memory.
We’re also proud to host cake decorating classes where anyone can learn to make their own Instagram-worthy creations.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising is that I never intended to start a bakery and I’m actually a self taught baker! Two Tiers started when I challenged myself to do one intimidating thing a week, and one week I decided to bake a heart-shaped cake. It clicked instantly and turned into this whole brand. From there, I taught myself through practice, persistence, and a lot of trial and error. People are sometimes surprised to learn I didn’t go to baking school, but I think that’s part of what makes the brand unique. I built it from the ground up, and every process and design was refined with our customers in mind. It gives me so much pride to see how far we’ve come, from one heart cake to a brand that people trust for their biggest celebrations!
