Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Scribner.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
To think that I would be living in Dallas and starting a business to make an impact was very much the furthest thing from my mind at one point while living in Arkansas. Nevertheless, before that, becoming a mom during the pandemic put me in many positions of having to figure things out alone. My experience as a new mom helped me understand what my mom, grandmother, and other moms had experienced as single parents. As moms, we do so much for our children and easily forget about ourselves, not realizing it. As a new parent, trying to figure out where to start was a battle in itself. Wearing so many hats, just under the role of mom, can feel like chaos at times. I realized how important it was for me to set a plan for myself and stick to it. Getting organized helped me to be able to make time for these things and start my daughter and myself on a better path. Although the path is still ongoing, it’s been better. This experience set the foundation of what my brand is. It put me in the position I’m in today to take what I have learned and use it to help other single moms do the same for themselves. “What’s from the heart reaches a heart.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Although the vision was clear, building my brand has not been a smooth road. I had to be placed in prior positions that not only challenged me physically but financially and mentally as well for extended periods to make this vision come to life. Those positions sometimes broke me to the point of wondering if I would ever make it out of them. I had to learn in times of struggle, we grow the most. At the time, they were struggles, but now I see them as my reason and my motivation to never return to them again and to help others do the same.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Moms In Sync is a nonprofit organization built by a single mom for ALL single moms. The mission is to empower single moms with organization skills and tips to help them cope with the day-to-day responsibilities of motherhood. We are creating a space for them to not only feel comfortable connecting with others who understand their experience but to learn from them as well. What sets us apart from others is our desire to not just be a checklist. We want to build relationships with single moms through the areas of their lives where they need someone the most and for them to know that they can count on us. I am most proud brand-wise of the impact we can make. M.I.S. will be offering group skills workshops and more. We give a hands-on experience where we work through the moms’ current responsibilities to find a plan tailored to their needs.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I’ve learned many lessons, but the biggest lesson of all is to have faith. Everyone believes in something! For me, God is where my help comes from. Keeping my mind steadfast on him during the Covid-19 crisis has not only kept my daughter and me but placed me where I needed to be when I needed to be. I understand now it was for my good, and I’m happy to turn my good into help for others.
