Exploring Life & Business with Brittney Solomon of VARA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Solomon.

Brittney Solomon

Brittney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey to starting VARA was deeply personal. I grew up in Texas, where beauty often meant full makeup and styled hair before stepping out the door. Back then, I never considered how internal care could impact external beauty. It wasn’t until I discovered Ayurveda over a decade ago that everything changed. Through its holistic practices, I healed issues like digestion, acne, and anxiety.

Hair oiling became a key part of my Ayurvedic routine, especially after the pandemic forced me to remove the hair extensions I’d worn for over a decade. That shift was transformative—I began using a blend of powerful herbs like Amla, Bhringraj, Brahmi, and Hibiscus, which not only rejuvenated my hair but also restored my confidence in embracing natural beauty.

As friends and family saw my hair transformation, they encouraged me to share this product. That’s how VARA was born—a celebration of simplicity, nature, and the power of daily rituals. Today, I’m passionate about helping other women feel confident and radiant, starting with something as simple and nurturing as hair care.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road—like most journeys, it’s had its fair share of challenges. One of the biggest hurdles was overcoming my own fears and doubts when I started. Moving away from the beauty standards I grew up with and embracing a more natural approach wasn’t easy, especially since it required letting go of old habits, like relying on extensions, and trusting in something completely new.

On the business side, navigating product formulation, sourcing high-quality ingredients, and building a brand that aligns with my values was no small task. I also had to learn how to handle setbacks, from production delays to the ups and downs of running a business.

That said, each challenge has taught me something valuable—whether it’s trusting my intuition, staying grounded in my vision, or remaining resilient when things don’t go as planned. It’s all part of the process, and those struggles have made the successes feel that much more meaningful.

As you know, we’re big fans of VARA. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
VARA Ayurvedic Hair Oil Crafted with powerful herbs like Amla, Bhringraj, Brahmi, and Hibiscus, VARA nurtures beauty from within—strengthening hair while empowering women to reconnect with their true essence.

At VARA, we’re on a mission to help women reclaim their inner radiance through modern Ayurvedic rituals that nourish and transform their hair, fostering strength and vitality from root to tip.

We believe every woman deserves the freedom to feel confident and whole—embracing her natural essence and making intentional choices that reflect her true self.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has definitely played a role in my life and business, but I see it as a mix of timing, preparation, and staying true to myself. For instance, the timing of the pandemic pushed me to remove my hair extensions, which felt like a setback at the time but ended up being a blessing in disguise. It allowed me to embrace a more authentic version of myself and led to the discovery of hair oiling, which became the foundation for VARA.

I’ve also been lucky to cross paths with supportive people—mentors, practitioners, and friends—who’ve encouraged me to stay grounded in my authenticity, even when it wasn’t the easiest path. At the same time, I believe we create our own luck by showing up authentically, aligning with our values, and working hard toward our vision. Challenges and setbacks still happen, but I see them as opportunities to grow and stay true to what I stand for, which has ultimately shaped VARA’s success.
