Exploring Life & Business with Cara García of Grace & Outlaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cara García.

Cara García

Hi Cara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been thankful and appreciative of the longevity of my career, but witnessing my stepfather making a lot of different beautiful things by hand, made me want the same for myself. He didn’t have one set hobby. Sid would see something and recreate it. My father made dream catchers, leather clothes, tooled leather goods, hog traps and dabbled in silversmithing. The list could go on. When I was younger i didn’t imagine I could make such intricate items with my hands but as I got older well more like in my early thirties I knew I wanted to add artistry to my resumé. I wanted to create something tangible

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No road is ever going to be easy, but I believe the “road” will always reflect your attitude throughout the journey of entrepreneurship. My struggle has mostly been the mentality of Work/life balance which is the most important part in making any artistry achievable in this economy. Self taught is also one of my biggest challenges so has been time management. I want to do it all and that means finding the time every day to hone in on my skills. My family will always come first, my career comes second and crafting with different clay mediums I will always make a way to find time for

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Grace & Outlaw?
My business is Grace & Outlaw. The name I chose is to venerate my ancestors. Both of my parents that have passed. Both of them had their own unique set of skills and ambitions in life. My mother was very tech oriented, loved books, typed fast and that’s where my career comes into play. My father retired and was an outdoors man full time and he was always crafting always making things so i would say that I am an equal representation of both of them. Grace & Outlaw specializes in clay art polymer, air dry & cold porcelain. What I love the most is making Christmas ornaments when I’m not making jewelry I work on different ornament techniques all year round, which pays homage to the German side of my family. Christmas ornaments come from a tradition that started in 16th-century Germany. But we are most known for our Brahman cattle earring designs. My Stepfather was born & raised in Hungerford, Texas! If you know you know! Brahman Cattle have always been near and dear to my heart. Also marrying a ranch manager has made Brahman cattle even more special to me. What’s most important to my brand is the customer service aspect. Every private message, every email and social media comment is answered by me in a timely manner. I strive to ship orders out a fast as humanly possible. And I try to make my packages an experience. The way you receive my package is very important to me because I want my packaging presentation to emulate how much I love each piece I create. Some of the different services that I offer are custom branded cattle earrings & jewelry. I also make felt hat pins, keychains, ornaments & keepsakes
