Exploring Life & Business with Carla Pineda of Blue Step – Dog behavior

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Pineda.

Hi Carla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I came from working on the Corporate World for 10 years until one day i wasn’t :). While redoing my resume in the lobby of my apartment building, I noticed so many people taking their dogs, and then thought I could start helping people take their dogs out since I had the time. So I did. Started walking and pet sitting, bathing, and was always intrigued to learn more on how dogs behave and why. Started educating myself with books, courses, videos and then trying things at shelters, volunteering, and finally started training dogs and people.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To me, despite of the material challenges, long hours and physical requirements, it has been a wonderful journey in the learning. I look back and i can just be grateful for all the opportunities i have had with every single dog i have had the privilege to meet and interact with and all the teachings that they have left me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Blue Step – Dog behavior?
What should we know?
I know for personal experience how difficult it is to trust a place where you can confidently leave your dog when you are away. After looking for years for a place that provided calmness vs. chaos without luck, I decided to create my own. A place where dogs were understood with their special characteristics but at the same time, help them overcome their fears or misbehaviors; a place where dogs are provided with a peaceful, safe and fulfilling stay while owners are away and also to show owners that it is possible to have a well behaved dog, if they didn’t believe that was possible. Seeing and showing transformation is one of our best rewards working with dogs… and owners!

What do you do, what do you specialize in / what are you known for?
We are known for attending to dogs from a dog psychology stand point, providing dogs with fulfillment, structure and mental stimulation in a safe, comfortable non-chaotic environment as well as working with owners to achieve the same at home.

What sets you apart from others?
While dogs stay with us, we work with them regardless if they are in training, we integrate dogs with their own kind, provide socialization in a calm, safe and structured way. While there is chaos in facilities that provide boarding and daycare, we provide fulfilling activities, structured exercise by staff that has been train to provide safety and build confidence on our dogs. No bullying, no humping, no chaos.

What are you most proud brand wise?
We stand out because we know dog psychology, we apply it and we transform dogs even if it is only during the time they stay with us. We help and support owners to continue the work done with their dog while they stayed here. We show them that is possible to have a calm, well behaved dog.

What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, services, etc?
Our brand stands for calmness, confidence, love and joy. We take a limited amount of dogs to ensure quality time with all of them. Knowing dog psychology allows us to recognize the dogs needs and help them to fully enjoy their stay.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My happiest moments are when I see the transformation of a troubled, distress dog into a happy confident companion and an owner that starts believing is possible.
I believe happiness is not a destination but a journey filled with happy moments.
Happiness is a state of mind, a feeling, a way to see life…
